Beyond Antares

I just googled this and was able to hear it on a Wiki link. What a great tune. It just makes me feel like they were really on the ship and that Antares was a place they might voyage to. Anyone else a fan?

Yes. It helped greatly that Nichelle Nichols had a good voice and could sing. But more so it leant TOS a sense of the romantic with the idea that such music could be/will be written in the future, and that humans can/will still contemplate intangibles.

It worked in the context of the episode. Way before 10 Forward, it gave us a good glimpse of how recreation time could be spent - especially within the limitations of a 1960's budget and morality code of the time. Nichelle did have a fine voice.

Nichelle still has a fine voice! She has recorded "Beyond Antares" and still sings occasionally at Cons.
