Well, I am officially confused. Where's the "sexism" here? Where is the "backtracking"? What is there to be "embarrassed" about here?
As an older female - old enough to be most of you guys' mother, or at least rapidly aging aunt - I haven't seen anybody say anything the least bit questionable in this thread except the poster or posters who seemed to think Marina Siritis should look the same now as she did when she was on TNG. But even that wasn't sexism; that was wishful thinking.
