Better Off Ted - Only seven episodes?

Waiting for the next Cycle

So a buddy of mine was telling me how good Better Off Ted is and I decided to check it out. I was really starting to get into it only to discover there are just seven episodes this season and it's not returning until 2010. What the hell!?

It's a mid-mid-season replacement and they normally only have 6-8 episodes.

I like the fact it's one of, if not, the worst rated show on the network and it got renewed. There should have only have been 7 episodes, and only 3 shown before it got canceled.

It was a shock that it got renewed what with its low ratings. But the fact that you have to wait a full year before it's on again means that NOBODY will remember it exists and its return ratings will be even worse! It's a really cute show though, I really enjoyed it.

I like it, glad to see its coming back, but it is elevated by Portia de Rossi and the two scientists (and occasionally Adrea Anders) from mediocre to amusing. When their material is lacking, it's a bit poor and you can see why people haven't embraced it.

But I'm a sucker for the off the wall, non traditional sitcom, which is why this, 30 Rock and Spaced are the only three I've watched in some years.

One of my favorite elements was the included "commercials" for the company. I love self-aware irony. :)

I also thought the main guy who plays Ted was incredibly charming and charismatic and a great leading man. I hope he finds something more successful after this show's inevitable cancellation.

And I'm elevated by Andrea Anders, as well; she's my kinda nutty-but-warm gal. It's too bad they can't somehow group BOT with The Big Bang Theory - I can see the same audience for both shows, and, frankly ABC does a crappy job of supporting Wednesday nights (Pushing Daisies, anyone?). And I agree - Ted is a great, very charming character; it's nice to see him not played as the buffoon in the center of the action for whom everything turns out in the end, but as the guy who is the glue that holds everyone together. I hope when it comes back, they also do a bit more with his daughter - those two have great chemistry (appropriately, I guess :)).

Oh yeah, the daughter who only appeared what three times? I kept forgetting she existed :D I liked the daughter too, how she was so mature and intelligent despite being a youngun.

I viewed the entire run of (US) Coupling last month in which "Ted" starred.

It was brutal, and he was terrible.

There was no where to go but up.

7 episodes?

Jesus.

The daughter firing people was awesome.

I'm surprised that this element of the show has been renewed under its low rating ever on ABC network. I tried to convinced myself to watching this series, but never capture my liking to watch it.

Judging of this element of the show, it won't last much longer. Just let it die already.

Love this show. So subversive and hilarious. I'm glad ABC gave it another chance because it really is great.

I saw an interview with Portia de Rossi on Ellen a little while back and they mentioned at least 12 episodes and then showed a clip of Portia's character doing something I haven't seen in the 7 episodes already aired.

Therefore more episodes were filmed and they just haven't been shown yet.
