Better Call Saul, the TV series

I mean seriously, if someone showed up at our place of employment and wanted to talk with our boss like that, we wouldn't be able to look at our superior like nothing happened...really?

Fring told a great patriotic story about fighting back against protection money.

The more I think about the more I think we haven't seen the last of Kim. After the time jump. we're pretty close to Breaking Bad territory and I can't help but wonder if she reappears long enough to see Jimmy in full Saul mode, for better or for worse. Plus, there's the fact we see that bottle stopper during the season 6 preamble and that has to mean something for the larger story.

Also, I can't believe I missed this last night during my review: The wine bar scene was a Homicide: Life on the Streets reunion. It's been years since I've watched the show so I can't remember how much interaction Esposito and Diamond had together, but that must've been part of the reason for Diamond's surprise appearance. Edit: A quick look at Wikipedia reminds me they partnered up during the movie.

I'm not familiar with that show so I didn't realize it was a surprise cameo. Was there a reference to the show in that scene that would have been over my head?

Anyway, I'm thinking they may be scenes with Kim in Nebraska...perhaps Omaha rather than Red Cloud. She may actually know folks over there. It was never actually confirmed that her deadbeat mom was her only family...I don't think.

No, I don't think so. Reading up on Wikipedia has refreshed my memory about their character trajectories and I think they only interacted in the movie (which was packed with every cast member from the show, past and present).

The bigger takeaway of that scene is the flirtation between Gus and Dave, which adds further credence to Gus' relationship with Max, whose murder is referenced when Gus looks down at the pool at Don Eladio's.

I suspect the last 4 episodes will revolve around his missing Kim. Everything else that happened we already know, there’d be no point in spending four episodes just walking through Breaking Bad blow by blow and adding Jimmy’s perspective scenes if Kim is not involved.

Watching it right now. God, I'd love to see Giancarlo Esposito play a Romulan on Star Trek. He'd nail it better than Katsulas.

Dang high praise indeed, but yeah he'd be perfect.

Good "finale" to what felt like the end of the era we normally associate with Better Call Saul. Every moment, even the quiet ones, had me waiting for the other shoe to drop. They tied things up nicely.

I love how it felt like it was going to be, if not an episode a padding just a relarively quiet episode linking to the final four. Hol-ee shit! I knew what Kim was going to say seconds before she did but it was still a shock.

I can tell you exactly when. Since Howard died. ;)

Yeah whatever problems they were having she clearly cared about him, and like a lot of people she probably didn't even realise how much until he was gone. No more HHM

Well. Shit.

And just like that, Kim is gone.

At least she didn't die.

But no Vacuum Guy, no run for her life. Just simply quit her life's passion and walked away.

Not because of Howard. Not because of Lalo. Not because of all of the nefarious stuff Jimmy was doing.

But because she had an epiphany. That Kim and Jimmy together were poison for everyone around them.

And now it's just Saul Goodman.

If it weren't for the final four remaining episodes, I could practically be content with the show ending right here and now.

But, of course, Peter and Vince still have a few more tricks up their sleeves and I have no idea what they are (beyond resolving Gene's story).

On a different note, I loved the sheer intensity of the between Gus and the Dons. I didn't think anything serious would happen, I just loved how damn cool Gus played the whole thing. Don Eladio is no fool. He knows there's something going on there but he doesn't care as long as it doesn't effect him personally.

As...odd...as the whole exchange with the wine connoisseur appeared, I enjoyed having Reed Diamond just randomly pop up as a one-off character. I figure there's some meaning behind that special vintage that Gus bought that connects to Breaking Bad but I don't remember what it could be.

It is amazing how tense that scene by the pool felt, even though we know none of these people are in any immediate danger.

The chat with the Maître d' was interesting, glad I'm not the only one to pick up on a certain flirtatiousness there.

And just like that Kim is gone. Glad she went on her own terms and really glad she didn't die!

I don't imagine for one second that we've seen the last of her.

Also another thought I forgot to mention...how they were quick to talk about how they'd move the firm and rename it, at the dang memorial service with all those pictures of Howard around them.

That reminds, I wonder if that new firm was one we had heard about in Breaking Bad or if it was just some forgettable generic name.

Did we hear about any law firms in BB? The only non-Saul lawyer I can remember appearing in BB is the woman who advised Skylar to go to the police. Unless there was a random name-drop for divorce attorneys.

I’m going to have to back and binge-watch BB once Saul is over. See how it all ties in.
Same here. I binged all 62 episodes of Breaking Bad during Christmas Week in 2013 and haven't watched it since. Whereas I've been watching Better Call Saul since it premiered in 2015. So, in actuality, I'm really more of a BCS Fan. Because it's been so long, watching Breaking Bad again will feel more like I'm watching a sequel.

Now that you mentioned El Camino, I wonder if Jimmy wrote a letter for Kimmy and had the Vacuum guy go somewhere far from Omaha and mailed it?

Goodbye Kim. You had a very sensible. healthy exit. Now if you could just turn up in Gene's present-day life, then all will be well. Got it? :p

I'm just happy she didn't die. I really didn't expect to move through as much story as we have just two episodes in, so I'm really intrigued as to what's going to happen.

You know I got a terrible feeling that Kim might be found dead. Remember Mike told them to basically go about their lives like nothing has changed. Her quitting her job and leaving for who knows were could easily be seen as a threat to Fring so he might order her death. Mike might have even been the one Fring orders to kill her.
