Better Call Saul, the TV series

I see where this is going. Kim's banking work isn't fulfilling her anymore. The old Kim would have taken the "impossible" bank design change on as a challenge. But new Kim finds the impossible criminal cases much more rewarding. It's possible that she's the silent partner in Saul Goodman and Associates.

Oh, that was Ethan Phillips, same actor who played Neelix. And he played him with Neelix’s exact mannerisms.

Kim seems to be developing a risk addiction here. I’m still skeptical she was in the picture in Breaking Bad, though odds just shot up. I still have trouble believing Kim would cross lines that Saul crossed. Openly laundering drug money and suggesting prison shankings. Scamming a DA to help a pickpocket is different from openly supporting violent or drug crimes.

Kind of like how she scammed a guy into donating to a fake charity but kept the check as a trophy. She’s a criminal tourist, can she really become a full on criminal?
 
I'm surprised by the amount of time and resources Kim put into rescuing Huell from his assault charges, between Jimmy's arts and crafts road trip to bringing on three associates for a brief meeting. That is, until she told Jimmy she wanted to do it again. She's always enjoyed the high of the con game, but this is on a whole new level (for her) and it comes at the risk of her law license and yet that's not stopping her from wanting to do it again. The thrill of the successful con must be a mighty drug indeed. What worries me is what cost Kim will pay by the end?

Good to finally check in on Nacho because his absence in the last few episodes has been conspicuous. Looks like he has a plan to get himself and his father Out but I fear based on what we might know from Breaking Bad that he won't be successful.

Nice to see Krazy-8 again, especially with the fun callback to his first appearance on Better Call Saul. He looked so sheepish when Nacho called him out. :lol:
 
It’s interesting that both of Krazy 8’s appearances have made him more sympathetic.

It’s hard to guess what that one hint from BB tells us about Nacho. If Saul tried to blame something on Nacho, it could mean they did something together that the cartel or Gus would react to fatally if they found out. But he could also have chosen Nacho because he’s the only option who is both not dead and not available to threaten. So either he is dead or he escaped, both possibilities work equally.

Also worth noting, Saul recommended vacuum guy to Walt to escape Gus, meaning he trusts when somebody is disappeared even Gus can’t find him.

I rewatched Breaking Bad's Better Call Saul episode last night afterward, and never noticed the Associates part before (or thought that much about it). But, when Walt is talking to Saul, there is a second desk in the office cluttered up. I love the idea of Kim being there during the events of Breaking Bad. Hell, maybe in some of the flashforwards we can see her dealing with the aftermath of Jimmy skipping off to Nebraska to manage Cinnabon and dealing with the hammer the Feds are undoubtedly going to bring down after the events of Breaking Bad.
 
I feel like the main plot of the Early-2000s portion of Season 5 will be all about setting up "It wasn't me! It was Ignacio!"

And wow, they really made Huell a poster child! I love Judge Neelix.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Makes me wonder what makes him hard.

Oh, wait, wasn't he just coming out of prison at the beginning of Breaking Bad? That would do it.

Definitely. That said, I would be shocked if he and his dad are able to escape.

Hm, good point. He knows from experience that it's a realistic escape route.

Yeah, that desk was brought up a few pages ago because some fandom articles have noted it this season.

That's one of the most thrilling things about this show: Even though this is a prequel, we don't know what happens to Kim and there's just enough wiggle room in Breaking Bad for most options.

Well that didn't go the way I expected it to. Kim really does get off on the con, I'd agree with what someone said up thread in that she's unlikely to countenance the really rough stuff, then again can you countenance Jimmy at this point doing that?

I'll be sad if Gus does get Mike to off the Germans, but I won't be too surprised either.

Nice to see Nacho's home, complete with two lady friends! I suppose it makes sense that if you're a drug dealer you would be expected to live like a drug dealer, even if you're not happy with it.

On a personal note, I'm not sure Kim's ever looked hotter than she did standing outside the law office waiting to say "Let's do it again!"
 
Having Kim stay on the strait and narrow and that leading to her and Jimmy having a falling out is way too obvious. I trust the writers to come up with something way more interesting. It could be fun to have a season that run concurrently with all of Breaking Bad, showing everything from Saul (and Giselle's) perspective.
 
So after the setup of what looked like a ending of Jimmy and Kim's relationship last week, they totally slip everything and have us completely guessing about everything. Love it!

I also had a hearty laugh at the lady dealing with Huell's case getting through to a church of all places! :D

The website they've done is a stroke of genius.
