Which of the three shows had the best sixth season?

NOTE: I allowed multiple choices, but please refrain yourselfs from mocking the thread, as I do this because I wonder if anyone is torn between the choices. For instance, one may say VOY had the best sixth season, but all other shows's sixth seasons sucked - know what I mean?

Well?

For Season 5, I wasn't sure which to give it to between TNG and DS9. I kept going back and forth (I voted DS9, but could easily change it back to TNG). This season is much easier, definitely DS9. I think Brannon Braga has strong episodes, but there were a lot of inconsistancies. On the other hand, DS9 seems strong throughout. I think that it's in the late seasons that DS9 builds up to its exciting conclusion, while the next generation tries to figure out an appropriate time to end the show. There are still great episodes, but it's just not as consistently strong.

Yeah baby. It's DS9 for me from season 4 on. I never get tired of rewatching the show. I might skip a few episodes here and there, but for the most part it's still relevant.I can't say the same for TNG.

Definitely Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The other weren't bad, but a little inconsistent.

Once again it is sorta hard to choose which is the best. Both TNG/DS9 had their high points and low points this year.

TNG had more episodes I wasn't crazy about than in seasons 4/5. True Q was very boring Birthright was a pointless two-parter, Times Arrow II wasn't bad but it wasn't everything it could have been, Realm of Fear was middling.

It did have some good episodes-Relics, Chain of Command, Schisms, Man of the People, Rascals, Quality of Life, Ship in a Bottle, Face of the Enemy, The Chase, Timescape, Descent. Aquiel and Suspicions were alright.

But DS9's Occupation Arc was better than probably anything TNG put out in season six. With the exception of "Sons and Daughters" all the other episodes were really good. It was thrilling, epic, loved all the dynamics and character perspectives, the machinations and double crossings, Kira's resistance etc. However, after that the show seemed to wander aimlessly the rest of the season unfortunately putting the War on the backburner until the season finale. There were some good episodes like the best Ferengi episode "The Magnificent Ferengi" in the mix but there were far too many uninteresting outings like Resurrection, Valiant, His Way etc.

If I was just going by the Occupation arc and a few other episodes I'd give it to DS9 but I think TNG wins here by a hair for a more consistent season.

VOY in year six I enjoyed. Oh it wasn't consistent there was an almost predictable pattern of good episode one week followed by mediocrity or awfulness--Pathfinder(good), Fair Haven(mediocre), Blink of an Eye(good), Virtuoso(poor), Memorial(good) etc.

I enjoyed many episodes this year and I thought it ended on a god note with Unimatrix Zero. By this point the writers had pretty much written off Kim, Paris, Neelix, Chakotay, Tuvok which was fine with me. I hadn't found them interested in many years.

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1992-1992)
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1997-1998)

DS9 and TNG for me, but DS9 just a bit ahead.

By VOY's season 6, I was so bored I wished the show would end. None of the principal characters had anything to do, and the desperate arrival of Lt. Barclay only confirms what all knew - the show was tired. TNG-free, but still trying to grab whatever TNG tried to do, with little to no success. Doing what no other Trek show had done before - force me to close the TV.

TNG, after a very so-and-so season 5, gets back on top with a really good sixth season. Episodes like "Times Arrow Pt. 2", "Relics", "Quality of Life", "Fistful of Datas", to name but a few, confirm. Its the most consistently excellent Trek season since the fourth. Unfortunately, its got some real stinkers - "Schisms" and "Realm of Fear" are not favorites of mine at all. Nevertheless, episodes like "Chain of Command", "Tapestry" and "The Chase" do prove that TNG could still be excellent, if it wanted to. Also, the darkest TNG season since the second - and definitely the most intrigue-filled one.

DS9 saw the Dominion War commensing. How wonderful, indeed - "His Way", "Times Orphan", "Far Beyond the Stars", and my personal favorite DS9 episode, "In the Pale Moonlight", signal this season's almost uncontrolable brilliance. Trully, a great season, and DS9's pinnacle to excellence.

Perhaps the best post-modern Trek season? Well, I gotta rewatch it again, to decide... But if I remember correctly, this is a winner!

Deep Space Nine and The Next Generation battle it out, but DS9 just barely wins the season fight. Voyager was slipping fast and becoming less and less entertaining.

I've rewatched it, and I decided - definitely one of Top 5 best Trek seasons of all time. With gems like "Rock and Shoals", "Waltz" and "Inquisition", you can't go wrong.

I consider DS9's Season 6 highly overrated, so I went with TNG. I also loved some episodes in Voyager's Season 6 but then that was also the season where the writers decided to take sweet innocent Kes and make her a bitch. That wasn't a good idea. :(

I think DS9 is justifyably "overrated" - highly praised is more accurate really - as it is really the show on its continued peak. My only disapointment was that it was a little too unfocused towards the end of it - and it also has the worst DS9 episode of all time: "Profit and Lace". Just, horrible.
