I can't vote in this poll.

It'll be based first on the looks, then the actresses acting ability.

Yes. I cannot stress enough how important it is to watch Deep Space Nine. DS9 is a full seven course meal with all your favorite fixings. It may be a little rough to start (depending on your tastes), but it is one delicious show. Don't miss out on this one.

And Ezri Dax is the best dessert a viewer could hope to have.

She's totally "sweet", indeed. ;)

So many choices, it was hard to choose:

I would have to go with Louise Fletcher. Her performance in DS9 as Kai Winn just made me cringe. You could just tell she had her own agenda under a fundamentalist religious mask, and Fletcher played the part perfectly, eliciting all of the right emotions.

Honorable mentions:

Kate Mulgrew- She delivered Janeway's strengths perfectly in VOY. Very accomplished. Anyone who got to see her on stage in Tea at Five will know what I mean.

Majel-Barrett Roddenberry- Truly the first lady of Star Trek. Nurse Chapel, Lwaxana Troi (which she delightfully played to the hilt) and of course the ship's computer voice.

What a difficult choice! I voted for Nana Visitor because she managed to bring to life what is to me the strongest female character in Trek. Although sometimes she tended to overact, her overall performance was excellent.

I also loved Kate Mulgrew especially for the fact that her Captain Janeway was a different breed of captain than Kirk, Picard or Sisko. She ruled with an authoritative hand, but she was also warmer, let's say, more nurturing with her crew. She made a wonderful female role model, just like Nana with Kira.

I was also quite impressed with Jeri Ryan. I really believe she is a very good actress and did a lot more on Voyager than just look hot. Roxann Dawson was also great as B'Elanna.

I often can't help myself with polls, where I'll take a look to see how others have voted first, before I make a vote. It's a kind of curiosity to see what are the popular selections and then reflect upon whether I agree with them or not... make me consider those choices a bit more. Very often it'll cause me to remember more about those choices that will influence me either way--yes or no.

With this one, I was tempted to peek. But I didn't this time. I looked the list over a few times, then one stood out for me. I voted at that instant, then looked to where this choice stood.

And so...

There can be only one.

Easily Nana Visitor.

Exactly. All you have to do is run through all of her notable scenes in your mind, and it quickly becomes apparent that there's no other... other than Nana. :)

Nana Visitor is without a doubt my answer, and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks so! To be honest, I think that DS9 had the best female characters, due to the wonderful writers and all of the actresses. So, it was either Nana Visitor or Louise Fletcher (I love manipulative villains).
