I would agree with Louise Fletcher, but I give high marks to a performance not in the poll, and that would be Elizabeth Dennehy in "Best of Both Worlds."
hey fellow trekkers
i voted for .......
Terry Farrell
she played my fave character on DS9
i would have voted Nana Visitor but Jadzia was my fave.
I would add Majel to that list, other than that, I have nothing to addMy vote goes for Nana Visitor. Her character was indeed wonderfully written, but it wouldn't have been the same without an actress able to emote so much and bring vulnerability to the character while not losing any of the strength. As flemm observed on a recent DS9 thread, talented actors influence the development of their characters since the writers realize they can give them more to do and write more challenging and diverse material for them, since they'll be up for the task.
Other actresses I'd like to mention:
Jolene Blalock - whatever her overall acting talents are, she was excellent as T'Pol
Louise Fletcher
Salome Jens
Suzie Plakson
Michelle Forbes
Diana Muldaur (I like her performance as Miranda Jones in "Is There No Truth in Beauty?" the best)
Jeri Ryan
Kate Mulgrew
Alice Krige - even though I don't like the concept and portrayal of the Borg Queen
special mention to Nichelle Nichols, for managing to bring real presence to a ridiculously underwritten character
I endorse that entire list, as they were all of my candidates as well.
But you haven't voted...Nichelle Nichols gets my vote because you have to a good actress in order to say nothing but "Hailing frequences open" for 30 years and still do it with a smile on your face.
Like many of us I could think of more than one, my choice was Kate Mulgrew. It's good to see that we've voted by abilities and not just looks!
This was a very difficult choice for me too. My choices were based on believability in several aspects; body language, eyes, etc.
3. Majel Barrett- I have a soft spot for Nurse Chapel, but Barrret lit up TNG as Lwaxana Troi. Dark Page was a fabulous episode for her.
2. Kate Mulgrew- Her acting always seems genuine and I haven't noticed as "lapses" where Janeway wasn't believable.
1. Nana Visitor- Kira isn't my favorite character in Trek, but Visitor is a fabulous actress. You can see the character in body language, emotion in the eyes, speech. She's awesome.

Of course the boss' wife needs to be voted for. Lol. She was brilliant as Lwaxana, so coy and funny and kind of raunchy in a way.
Visitor . . . I haven't seen any of DS9 so I'm not so sure about her. I have seen a clip where Sisko threatens to cut her head off because she went over his head I guess. But that's it.
And Mulgrew *sigh* the BEST thing about Voyager. Jeri Ryan was great, yeah, but she was just there for ratings and Seven became just kind of redundant for me. But Mulgrew, absolutely fantastic in everything she's been in. From Ryan's Hope to her latest stage role in Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
