Kirstie Alley. A real scene stealer in TWOK. Strong but sensitive, brave yet vulnerable. Her best onscreen performance of her career, IMHO.

:wtf:

Farrell couldn't act her way out of a paper back. She was, by far, DS9's weakest acting link.

How can you say that about the woman I love?
Grrrr01.gif

I agree that she was the weak link in DS9. I rewatched the whole series last year, and, in all fairness, a lot of this was not her fault. Until her relationship with Worf came along, Jadzia was given little of interest to do and Farrell did not have much to work with. When her role became bigger, she rose to the occasion.

1. Nana Visitor, definetly:bolian:
She is definetly the most talented of the Trek actresses:)
and helped Kira to become one of my favorite DS9 characters. I dont think we ever saw a weak performance from her, its just in few small occasions the dialogue/story was not so good, when it came down to her character.
2. Jeri Ryan would be my second choice.
She really turned 7 of 9 from a Borg babe to a interesting character, who was strong and yet vulnerable. I think when the writers realised how good she was, they gave her more to do:)
3. Roxann Dawson is my third choice.
She played the feisty and tempered half-Klingon engineer very well and really helped to make the character cool to watch. She also had good chemistry with the rest of the Voyager cast members.

I went with Nana Visitor.

Jane Wyatt and Michelle Forbes are both outstanding, but seven great seasons of work from Visitor weigh more heavily than about an hour of screen time from Wyatt or Forbes.

Special mentions to:

The First Lady of Star Trek, credited variously as Majel Barrett, M. Leigh Hudec, and Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, for contributing so much to the franchise in so many different roles. The poll mentions Number One and Christine Chapel on TOS and Lwaxana Troi on TNG/DS9. She also contributed the voices of the ship’s computer and M’Ress, among others.

Jeri Ryan for .

Denise Crosby and Kim Cattrall for making all the other actors look good by comparison.

EDIT: I just noticed I’m the first poster in the thread to mention Wyatt! Show her some love!

I would like to vote Kirstie Alley and Louise Fletcher. Kirstie is not well know character but his performance in trek is just awesome like to Louise.

Diana Muldaur gets my vote. If only her character could have replaced Bev Crusher permanently, what a foil she was for Picard!

Honorable mention goes to The Grand Lady of Star Trek, Majel Barret-Roddenberry! I love her and miss her greatly...

I voted for Nana Visitor as well, whom seems to have the most votes too.

Besides the various emotions she could give off and her ability to keep a complex character together through the whole series in quite an evolving way..... her mirror self also showed completely different personalities and complexities, not to mention how seductively ruthless she could also be..... with a smile of course. Not to mention it appeared as though she had absolutely no boundaries to what she'd do..... which can kinda freak some people out a little if you think about it :P

I mean it wasn't just an actor playing a character, it was a person you were listening to whom was sharing their life in the show to you.

Sure other characters through Star Trek did the same..... but when it comes to females.... she had more range then the rest. Some of the others, you could once in a while see them just doing the role and kinda drifting once in a while.

LOUISE FLETCHER as Kai Winn. What a pleasure to watch her! Hands down the best woman actor.

Okay I've read the whole thread now so here's my comments..

I never thought Nana Visitor was a great actor. She is competent (much more so than Farrell!) but she lacks range IMHO. I would vote for Nicole De Boer over her any day.

Nurse Ratchet for Kai Winn eh? Am I the only one who watches her right up to the very end wondering if she will redeem herself and pull back from the brink of narcissism and power? Even after many viewings, LOL.. she brings so much to what could have been a stereotypical villain. I particularly like her with Dukat, the switching between blushing lover and cold controller putting him in his place. She had a great role, great writing and she made Kai Winn so multifaceted and unforgettable.

Well, I voted for Suzie Plakson. Because I just had to say somewhere that I've been watching TNG for what? c. 25 years? and I never realized until tonight that she was playing Lt. Selar. And I've always been especially fond of Lt. Selar and Suzie Plakson.

I really can't rate her against the great regular actresses. Kate Mulgrew, Roxann Dawson, Diana Muldaur, Whoopie Goldberg, Majel Barrett and the fabulously evil Louise Fletcher: what a character, and what a portrayal! But Suzie Plakson is just about at the top of my list of favorite occasion guests.

Yeah. I can see Jeri Ryan for honorable mention. I really liked her performances in certain episodes; especially in "Body and Soul".

That's two of us.:techman:

(She's got a fabulous singing voice too)

I like a fair few of the other actress mentioned but as far as Trek goes some just didn't have enough screen time. People like Visitor had to support the entire show. A really bad actress in that role might have ruined DS9 for me.

Can't believe there are no votes at all for:-

Nichelle Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Chase Masterson, Roxann Dawson or Linda Park.
