Also voted for Nana Visitor. She played Kira so well, that the character did not seem acted at all but real.

TerokNor

It's hard to pick just one out of such a large field but Louise Fletcher gets my vote.

My choice for a regular would be Jerry Ryan.

Impossible choice from such a long list and I admire so many of the Trek Gals for lots of different reasons. In the end I could not decide so I voted for Suzie Plakson as I admire most of the occasional characters particularly of course K'Ehleyr.

She has a terrific singing voice as well.

Damn, I scanned the list too quickly and didn't catch that Suzie Plakston's on there until after I voted. Despite K'Ehleyr appearing in only two episodes she's one of my top Trek characters, and Plakston played her other characters equally well. I voted instead for Diana Muldaur, as she also played multiple characters and I much prefer Pulaski over Crusher.

Kate Mulgrew.

Honorable mentions: Louise Fletcher breathed some life into a stereotypical role with some skill and Susanna Thompson put some subtlety into the Borg Queen, which took quite some doing.

I voted Louise Fletcher. She has been a stellar actress her whole career, & Star Trek was no exception. By far the most talented actress on that list, as well as the most well played performance of the nominees, in my own opinion. The woman puts depth to her characters that holds you captive

Nana Visitor
wins the oscar award primarily for her outstanding performances in Deep Space Nines Season's 4-7. Ironically, some of her early performances on DS9 was quite dreadful. But she more than made up for it later on, though.

Kate Mulgrew
wins second place for her ability to convince me that she was a believable hard as nails starship Captain.

Michelle Forbes
wins third place for breathing life into a character that could have easily been boring.

Jolene Blalock
wins the razzie award for worst actress ever on Star Trek. Sorry Jolene.

Winner:

Nicole de Boer. See Rush Limborg's comments.

Runners-Up:

1.) Nana Visitor - for playing quite possibly the most challenging role in all of Trek, and doing it to perfection, almost.

2.) Robin Curtis - for playing a Vulcan MUCH better than Kirstie Alley did.

3.) Jolene Blalock - she might be complete crap in everything else she's ever appeared in, but she nailed the part of T'Pol.

4.) Jeri Ryan - despite the fact that the producers only brought her onto the show to be a sex object, she's actually a damn fine actor.

Kai Winn gives me the creeps every time she appears. I suppose that is because Louise Fletcher is such a good actress. I hope she is not like that in real life.

Are the blokes on this thread really being objective. Some have mentioned acting skills and so on but if we are honest are we not just a tiny bit influenced by whether we fancy the lady concerned. ;)

I am amazed that there are hardly any votes for Terry Farrell. I think that she is gorgeous and a good actress.

How am I the first to vote for Majel Barret? Not only is Luxanna a crazy and great persona that I'm sure is difficult to pull off, she was also the iconic computer voice. Just the computer voice alone should reel in the votes. It's not Star Trek without that voice.

^Dunno, I think she tied Visitor for that. If I never see her try to emote again (read "yell a lot") it'll be too soon.
I dunno.

The thing about Visitor when she had to do subtle drama he was good enough. Her problem was mostly with exposition.

Farrell was just the opposite. She could spew the technobable okay, but anytime she had to do something dramatic, she just obliterated any atmosphere and everything got all awkward.

Luxanna was the only role she was good at.

:wtf:

Farrell couldn't act her way out of a paper back. She was, by far, DS9's weakest acting link.

How can you say that about the woman I love?

Gorgeous. It was only by an effort of supreme concentration that I was able to zero in on the performance itself and vote for someone else ;)

Voted for Alfre Woodard. The intensity and warmth that she brought to her role was a huge asset to the movie, and her character was different from how she was in "Grand Canyon", the other movie I've seen her in. The problem with a lot of the actresses in Star Trek (including Louise Fletcher) is that I didn't think they showed much range since if I saw any of them in something outside of Star Trek, they played pretty much the same character. Kai Winn was not very far from Nurse Ratched.

Also, I thought a lot of the actresses (Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Diana Mulduar, Terry Farrell, Nicole DeBoer, Whoopi Goldberg, and Nichelle Nichols, all of whom I liked) were pretty one note. They just always seemed to sound the same no matter how they felt. Rosalind Chao deserves credit for acting the hell out of her possessed Keiko, though. She was a bit whiny as Keiko sometimes, but I would have never guessed she could play such a supremely evil bitch so well, based on her usual character.

Terry Farrell is my favourite DS9 cast member. I like her acting and character more than any other on the show, but I wouldn't argue with those saying she's one of the less dynamic actresses in Star Trek. She's far from the worst, though. The worst was Robin Curtis. She's one of the main reasons I never bought "Star Trek III" and will probably never watch it again, despite owning II and IV. I am so glad they got rid of her early in "Star Trek IV" with only a few lines. She was so wooden, it was painful to watch. I don't see what's so great about Nana. She was all right, but I couldn't vote for her because her shrillness annoyed the hell out of me for the first three seasons.
