Best Transporter Effect

TOS, followed by ENT, and then the DS9 Cardassian transporter effect. All pretty cool. Also, the TOS Klingon "flashing" version was pretty cool too, but seen so rarely it does not really merit consideration.

Most rediculous? Ardra from Devil's Due. TMP isn't Studio 54, Ardra's transporter is.

I thought the TOS movies post TMP were pretty cool.

TOS, I think, is vintage 60s, though. No matter who was being transported, they always had that too-cool-for-school Rat Pack-esque pose to them. Kirk, McCoy, random ambassador, ANYONE.

I liked the TNG series one.

TOS one was also good, but I prefer the white energy effect to the gold one.

VOY's I didn't see what the point of the orbs was and I felt it took too long.

ENT's was fine but didn't really blow my mind...and you'd think in-universe, in its era, transporting would be a bigger deal - never mind how long we've seen it on Star Trek.

I too liked the early Klingon transporter with the falling cloak of blood red pebbles look...the later one just looked like a "meh" fuzzy reddish distortion.

The Cardassian one was interesting too but I felt it matched better the early no-90 angles in Cardie design, more slippery villains than the neo-Romulans they ended up by series' end.

I never liked the Romulan or Borg effects. The future guys from TNG's "Captain's Holiday" had an interestingly freaky space/time jumping effect I remember intrigued me.

I don't think I liked any of the TNG movie versions...something about how they didn't match the silhouettes of the characters...the color touches...and they just lacked a certain verisimilitude.

I always liked the effect of the folded-space transporter from TNG's The High Ground. It's so sudden; almost violent. It works better with the sound fx though.

It was already mentioned above, but the Klingon transporter effect as seen in TOS is very cool, too.

I feel the exact opposite as Fal Tor Pan. I loved the TMP effect. Much coolness.
That's my favourite as well. I love the shimmering figure surrounded by a cylinder of blue light. It just looks so pretty and three-dimensional, moreso than any effect since.

The TMP effect looks like a Studio 54 lighting set-up. You could almost hear the disco music as McCoy beamed up. His outfit didn't do the whole thing any favors either.
Well, you can tell by the way they beam me up
I'm a doctor's doc...no time to schtup!

;)

I like the Cardassian transporter especially when you have to kick the console to make it work, heh.

I like the effect from Blakes 7 liberator, but I guess this is trek so I will go with movies 2-6 as my favorite.

I liked the TNG effect. I really loved the episode where we got to see what it looks like from inside the transporter beam, can't remember the name though.

Definitely original Trek. You get much more of the effect of a body being taken apart molecule by molecule. Also, the sound and image worked better dramatically. Things started to be screwed up when Paramount demanded that actors be shown moving and talking to each other during transport. Call me nutty, but people being taken apart molecule by molecule shouldn't be moving around. Sorry, I like logic.
