Best set of Dvd's?

I have the 2003 release and that works fine. I too noticed that with most episodes you can't skip the opening credits by pressing next. And yes, the packaging is not the best, they can fall apart. I've been careful with mine so they haven't torn apart to date.

I imagine the most recent release is fine as well.

Watch out though. I initially started by buying the "complete series". When I got it I realized something was off when it had a few typos here and there and it listed 20th Century Fox as a distributor. The discs played poorly and skipped around a lot. It was obviously a copy of an official release.

I got it on Amazon so luckily I got my money back when I reported it (it was through a 3rd party seller). After that I always make sure what I'm buying is official from the studio. I'm not in the habit of buying bootlegs and was not happy.

I'm hoping for a Blu-Ray release someday, though I'm not necessarily holding my breath. At least DS9 is better on DVD then TNG.

I remember the early sets I bought back in 2004 which had cracks in the discs due to a fault with the provided spindles! Paramount UK were excellent and sent me replacement discs from both TNG and DS9 so after that I kept them in plastic sleeves rather than risk cracking them again in the box! Unfortunately they were less than helpful in 2007 when I had problems with my Invaders set!

It seems that on mine I can skip the opening credits, but the way that the film is set up,
The "skip" goes by each "scene" or chapter and if you skip the opening credits, it takes you to the next scene.
So you end up missing part of the "1st" scene (chapter).
I fast forward through the opening credits for this reason.

What are "plastic sleeves"
I decided to take all of my Trek stuff and put it in sort of envelopes made for DVDs/CDs and the very next time I played my Next Generation DVD, it started skipping snd freezing. It had never done that before,
So I moved everything back to the original packaging.

Yeah, that's what I meant. On some shows, Enterprise for example, you can skip the credits pretty easily. On DS9 it takes to far ahead when you hit next. So either you have to fast forward through the credits or just let them play.

Just to make a long story as short as possible:

Check out thise two links. There you can read all about my problems with the DS9 DVD:s which has been going on for years now.

I can inform everyone that the problems aren't solved, despite some recent "send back and get a new box" actions.

As for season 6 and 7 which I've watched from the recent box set, the season 6 episode "Tears of The Prophets" had some problems at the end of the episode. I've watched season 7 up to "Only A Paper Moon" and so far no problems.

But during Christmas I noticed a problem with one of the season 1 discs. It was in the episode "Move Along Home" at the exact same spot as the problems I had with another disc with that episode some years ago.

However, I'm now into season 7 and it looks like I've soon have watched episode of this wonderful series. :techman:

I hope that I will be able to watch them again in the future but due to lousy quality of the discs, I'm not sure of that. I might buy another box in the future if they prove to be more reliable than the previous boxes.

Better yet, I'd love to see a Blu-Ray release

Every time I open this thread, my Avast anti virus comes up with a warning about some Australia based webpage which is infected with malware and then it starts scanning my computer.

Yep sounds like I have the same issues that everyone else has. Some are exactly the same.
There is one episode, which I've never seen,
Where Julian is turning 30 and some weird alien is chasing him around the ship.
Maybe, maybe it's all in his mind.
I've only seen about the first 10 minutes, maybe, then a skippy couple of minutes at almost the end. Then it jumps to the main menu!
I might buy a new set anyway, as they say,
" just for shits and grins"

You can always watch online. Amazon prime, Hulu, Netlflix, CBS all have the episodes available.

I'm pretty weird though.
I watch them a LOT.
Plus my computer is not set up to my TV.
I could probably set it up but I'm not into monthly fees for stuff.
I'm old and old school.

Whatever works for you. There's lots of ways to get them to your tv pretty simply. The monthly fees will be less than a single box set of dvds. and there's no limit to how much you can watch something on any of those sites ;)

Okay, I'm really lazy too.
I'll leave the key under the mat.
Can you set all that up for me?
:D
PS the dogs look mean, but they are snuggle bunnies.

These days, "smart" TVs and/or blu-ray players commonly have built-in connectivity ("apps") for Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu. I'm not sure about CBS AA.

Plastic envelopes then!

Paramount havn't even bothered to send a reply to me.

Neither their headquarters in the US, nor any local representants in the European countries.

The local company which sells these boxes have been quite helpful but what to do when the new discs they send me are as faulty as the old ones.

This has been going on since 2013 for me.

I've considered to doing so.

But what will happen if I want to see a particular episode and then being met with a message saying "Sorry, this particular show is no longer available here" or "Our services aren't allowed for people outside the US".
