Best season one of any series

I'm not really a massive TOS fan, so my first thought and choice was to go with ENT
Most of the 4 modern Treks first seasons are pretty lame looking back on what came after, but at least ENT stood out at first with its (albeit slightly) different aproach to things

I would have to say TOS, struck a cord right out of the gate and kept on going.

DS9
ENT
VOY (only because I kept holding out hope)
TNG

For the rest.

TOS - the first season of this show was the best of the three.

DS9 - I was prepared to dislike this show when it first aired, so I figure they must have done *something* right to have kept me.

VOY - They downplayed the Maquis conflict WAY too much and way too early, but other than that, I actually like VOY's first season quite a bit.

ENT - *yawn*. I was expecting more. And then there is that whole Temporal Cold War that got me so excited...and then turned out to be a big goose egg.

TNG - Looking back, this might well be the worst single season of any Trek show. Downright painful to watch now with it's dated look, stilted dialog, and one-dimensional characters. ACK!

The Next Generation :)
Star Trek
Voyager
Deep Space Nine
Star Trek Enterprise

TAS

Star Trek, by far. Honestly, it's probably one of the best seasons the Franchise ever had, if not THE best, as far as I'm concerned.

TOS, obviously.

Following after that:

ENT - Pretty much had all the characterizations 'there' right off the bat. Only one or two real stinkers in the bunch.

DS9 - Hadn't quite found its voice yet and honestly, without 'Duet' it probably wouldn't rank this high.

VOY - Completely unmemorable. Seriously, I'm having trouble thinking of even one standout episode.

...and last but not least:

T-N-G! - Wow. What a crapfest. Almost every episode sucked out loud. MEG's reviews (the quality of them aside) have reminded me exactly how bad this season is.

I agree completely. And the funny thing is when you take the full run of the shows.

My preference is
1. DS9
2. TNG
3. ENT
4. TOS
5. VOY

And yet I still have the most love for TOS. Even though I recognize that I actually dislike a ton of episodes. But its my first love and even when you move on, you always remember your first love.

^ Hilarious! Where is that from?
Shatner's Comedy Central Roast if I'm not mistaken.

"Is that a Wookie's snatch on your head, Bill?"

Unquestionably TOS Season One, since it laid down the ground rules not only for it's own but every other Trek series.

After that I'd go with ENT, then DS9, TNG and lastly VOY. Now I come to think of it, that's also my spin off preference.

Season ones being what they are, I'd say that TOS was the best! Here are the rest of my picks:

1. TOS
2. DS9
3. Enterprise
4. STNG
5. Voyager

Definitely Star Trek. By far it had the strongest season 1--City on the Edge of Forever, Space Seed, Balance of Terror, the list goes on...

TOS and it's not really even close. That may still be the best season in Trek.

Voyager is next and while some say they downplayed the Maquis conflict what were they supposed to do? The Maquis couldn't try and overturn the ship because they would just make it a worse situation then they already did, and the Maquis had even fewer allies in the Delta then they would have in the Alpha. If anything the entire thing was overplayed.

DS9 is next, but this had the most changes in characters that didn't makes sense to me. But it's better than TNGs first couple of seasons which were pretty boring.

TNG is next even though the seasons were boring you could see some things develop with the characters.

Enterprise. I quit watching about 3 shows in. Just terrible writing.

I'm not a huge TOS fan; I enjoy it, mind you, but it's not my favorite. TNG, my overall favorite series, was weak in its first season as were DS9 and VOY. ENT was the strongest IMO but it lost its way in the following two seasons with a few exceptions, although it improved noticably in its final one.

Having not seen much of TOS, I'll have to say Enterprise. One can argue over whether or not it was original, but it was leaps and bounds better than Deep Sleep Nine since I didn't nod off every two minutes, better than Voyager for having the central conflict (albeit one with major plotholes) get glossed over after three episodes, and blows the schlocky, shitastic TNG out the water. There honestly isn't one single episode in that season that I would ever watch again.

Another vote for TOS Season one. It's impossible to improve upon the original and the first season was what set the bar. Great acting, great casting. Definately my favorite.

It has to be TOS. Not even really a tough choice.

TNG, VOY, and ENT all had slow starts.

DS9 was spotty with some great S1 eps (Duet, etc) and some real stinkers.
