I'll also post this fan made DIS intro from a few years ago. Yes, it's an older style, but I think it's just as good as the actual 90s intros, which is high praise for me.

TOS is still tops for me. The narration is so iconic even though we get versions from Pike and Picard.

DS9 S4-7 (not just beauty shots of the station but images of it actually functioning as a station plus the Defiant) and Prodigy are right behind it.

The rest are just kinda jumbled behind those three.

I've often wondered if whoever made that would consider doing updated versions to go with the other seasons.

I like the original ENT theme way more than most, but I have to go TOS.

I think they are all very good. TNG, DS9, VOY, DISCO, & PRO especially.

TAS & PIC are fine.

I'd go LD, peopy ENT, & The Cage last

Enterprise gets teased for having that silly song as their theme. And Ironically is ahead in this poll to any modern Trek series

TOS
SNW
LD
PRO
DIS
DS9
PIC
VOY
ENT
TNG

Feeling indecisive? :)

What was with Shatner's voice in the Youtube of 1966-69 Star Trek?? Sounds like a little kid with a headcold. It didn't sound like that in the actual episodes!

TOS first... It's iconic, it set the bar for everything that followed. The real one, that is, not the one with Shatner's voice screwed up.

The others are a harder choice. I decided DS9 second, for good music and the great look of the astroid going through the wormhole. Discover with an honorable mention because I love the animation.

Voyager, both the music and the visuals are majestic, closely followed by (sorry) The Orville.

TOS, but the first one with the orchestra. It's iconic. The song is great and short and the little speech just gets anyone in the mood for some Star Trek. Picard's version just didn't have the same vibe

THIS IS SO GOOD. Thank you for sharing

Rick Berman and I disagree on a whole heck of a lot of what makes Star Trek work and what doesn't, but we definitely agree on musical taste. TNG had the best intro for various reasons, but the music is certainly one of them. I just never could understand the fascination with the TOS theme; possibly a generational thing but it is just so cheesy and terrible. The reason my second favorite intro is Strange New Worlds is because they "fixed" the TOS theme and expanded on it to make it a full theme that actually sounds good. The amazing visuals in the Strange New Worlds intro definitely help.

The rest are ok, but none come close to the amazingness of TNG and Strange New Worlds.

This is one of those things where I don't feel like I can give a single definite answer. There's some openings where I prefer the music, some openings where I prefer the visuals, and some I don't like either.

TOS: I suppose the Courage fanfare and the opening narration are iconic, but I don't like the TOS theme music at all. It always felt very dated to me.

TNG: I love the camera panning out past the planets and Picard's update of Kirk's opening narration, but the rest of it is a bit... meh. The TMP/TNG title theme has become I suppose THE Star Trek franchise theme, but the TNG version always struck me as a bit pompous and high school band-ish, like it's being played slightly out of time and slightly too fast. Which is odd because I've loved the versions used on the movie soundtracks, and the one they sneaked in at the end of the final episode of PIC S3 moved me to tears.

DS9: Beautiful and haunting, with that magnificent brass melody... I buy the isolation, I buy the optimism, I buy the fresh new start, I buy the whole "we're doing the best we can with what we've got out here on the frontier"-ness of it all. Then the buggers went and ruined it completely in season four. Okay, I like that they made the station look busy and added the Defiant, the visuals were a definite step up, but who thought adding a Chariots of Fire bass line was a good idea!?

VOY: A visual tour de force given that this was mid-90s CGI, and Voyager's theme is fine, though I prefer the original version of the DS9 theme. Really there's nothing here I dislike.

ENT: Visually brilliant; possibly my single favourite Star Trek intro. Musically an abomination. And then somehow they made it worse.

DIS: It looks and sounds a bit like it's trying to be Star Trek: Fringe. I don't like the theme music at all because it's unhummable ambient pish, and why is the title sequence beige? I do quite like the way ship emerges from its own technical diagrams though.

PIC: Didn't mind the first season version (music and visuals), hated the second season version (music and visuals), but the third season version showed us what everyone knew all along – that they should have just used the First Contact theme from the beginning. Also, love the LCARS visuals in the third season. Though I suppose they're technically closings rather than openings. Why didn't they just put it at the beginning? Weird.

LDS: The music is fine, but I find the title sequence a bit too long and self-consciously funny and I often skip it. I like the running joke of the Cerritos stumbling across a bigger and bigger battle every season and just noping the hell out of there though.

PRO: This is kind of the DIS title sequence done right. Exciting theme music and visuals including all the characters and showing off the ship. I like it. I'm very intrigued to see how they update it for season two.

SNW: Well, I mean, it's basically hardcore starship porn isn't it. Absolute filth! Also, even though I don't like the TOS theme music I like the way they did callbacks to it here. It's like it's building to the TOS theme, just as SNW is narratively building towards TOS. I like it a lot.

So to my surprise it looks as though the openings I like most are VOY, PRO, and SNW. I seem to have issues with all the others in some shape or form.

I'm not to going to rank them. I'm just going to pick out the ones that stand out to me.

"The Cage"
--> There's just something magical about it.
Early-TOS Season 1 --> Not to be confused with the one from later on in the season. There's something spacey about it.
TOS Season 3 --> This is my favorite of my TOS intros. There's something about the way the musical arrangement was put together this time.

To be clear, with the TOS intros, I mean the original 1960s versions.

TNG Season 3-7
--> I love the opening with the galaxy. The rest of the intro, it's simplistic, I won't deny that, but it works.
VOY --> This is my favorite intro in Old Trek. I was blown away by it in 1995 and the visuals still hold up.

DSC
--> I like that it looks like sketches, and every season has something different to it, like different clues to discover.

PIC Season 1
--> This is my favorite intro in New Trek. The melody and the visuals that go with it make for the perfect combination. It doesn't just have music from "The Inner Light", it also has some cues from when Picard and Daren are practicing in "Lessons", if you know what to look for.

Since I could vote for two intros in the poll, I went with Voyager for Old Trek and Picard for New Trek.

The Voyager intro's my favorite. I don't hate any of them, not even the ENT intros. That said, I think that visually the ENT intro should've included accomplishments in space exploration by other countries, not just the US. It definitely should've featured a shot of Sputnik, Yuri Gagarin, and Valentina Tereshkova as they represented the first satellite, the first human and the first woman in space. I think that they could've easily skipped the shots of HMS Enterprize and the Spirit of St. Louis to fit them in. The current visuals are far too US-centric, IMO.

In hindsight, I should have voted for VOY as well. It is really good, but I just don't like the show as much.

DS9 (both versions) and SNW are in my opinion the greatest. Both the visuals and the music are just topnotch.
