Best "one off" episodes for someone who doesn't want to watch SNW in its entirety?

[Starflight]

Try "Children of the Comet" if you're looking for a solid Star Trek episode.

If you enjoy it, you can do "Lost in Translation" and the latest one, "Orders of Magnitude", all of which feel like run-of-the-mill Star Trek (in a good way).

If you want something more representative of what SNW is usually like, though, it gets trickier because it's convulsed through a lot of different identities and styles over its run to date, which is part of the appeal for people who really like the show.

[Gepard]

For classic Trek-style Trek, any of:

The pilot
Children of the Comet
Memento Mori
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
Under the Cloak of War
The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail

For the "big swing" meta-leaning genre playground style of Trek:

Those Old Scientists
Subspace Rhapsody
What is Starfleet?
Level-Five Transporter Accident*

*seriously

[Mudd]

Any of them, really.

"Valles Marineris" is my favorite.

[Saul]

This was probably the strongest season one episode, from my point of view.

I think if someone likes this episode then they'll like the direction the show goes in from season 2 onwards.
