"Best of both Worlds" - Special Bluray Release

The cobbled together VHS movie version that was released here in the UK made a mess of the part 1/part 2 transition. Hopefully they've re-edited it.

If this is released on the same day as the Season 3 set then I'd expect it to sell well, as it gives people the means to NOT have to wait for the Season 4 set in order to watch all of BOBW.

Sorry it took this long to get to it. Oh the life of a traveling tech trainer.

Any idea if the work on this one was done by CBS-D, the HTV team, or some other company entirely? I'm hoping this stand-alone has got the quality that the Season One BD does!

CBS Digital, I believe, is handling both parts of BOBW.

Maybe they'll air them separately and keep the cliffhanger moment intact? They should wait a few months between showing them too.

^ There might be a size limit. Years ago, before all the special accounts for professionals and such, I couldn't upload an animation over 10 meg. Haven't tried that since.

The limit used to be 2Gb or 15 minutes. Might have changed since then, but if so it'll likely be for the better rather than reducing those limits.

Really? I always found that the transition on the VHS worked rather well - the music appears to shift almost seamlessly: you go from the buildup to the cliffhanger, into the orchestral sting in II as the deflector fires. Yes, there's a bit of a shift noticeable, but it always struck me as being well-done. The DVD version, on the other hand, goes completely in the opposite direction, playing the cliffhanger sting over the deflector firing (completely replacing the soundtrack at that point, including the sound effects), and then cuts it out abruptly when we cut back to the bridge. That was definitely a mess, and it struck me as odd why they would redo the transition when they had already done it once before.

Plus, it means we get rid of that opening bit of II, which I think almost manages to squander the buildup of, and dramatic tension earned by, the cliffhanger. I mean, Riker says "Mr Worf... fire."... and then everyone stands around for about thirty seconds before Mr Worf actually does fire!

I would LOVE to see BOBW in the theatre on the big screen. Is there any reason it couldn't be shown on an iMax screen?

I've been thinking since the Blu-rays were announced it would be good to have both parts on one disc, this is probably the 2nd best way of doing it.

The other would be to have all of part 1 repeated on the season 4.1 disc.

Of course with the Blu-Ray capacity there's no reason they couldn't have feature length and episodic version on the same disc, but I don't think this will happen.

Family belongs with it too really.

Still anyway, the Best Of Both Worlds gets the best of both worlds.

A blu-ray of this would be great. I have no idea when I'll be able to afford the TNG sets. My instincts tell me a long time from now.
