Best line ever (Captains only)

^
Guess Riker was making it known that he had no choice but to choose Shelby. Wanted the others to know that if it weren't for the exigency of the situation, he'd not have chosen Shelby.
Then he should have discussed it with them privately. Proclaiming your personal dislike for your new XO when you introduce her (as XO) to the senior staff is just not an appropriate way to command, even if she really is a pain in the rear.

When Kirk had a problem with Decker, he spoke to Decker privately. He didn’t belittle Decker in front of his fellow officers.

Well I don't see it as Riker belittling Shelby. He was just saying what he was thinking, which is "I don't think you're ready for the job yet, but you're the best person for now."

Picard: "I am... Locutus of Borg. Your life as it has been... It over. From this point onward you'll service... us."
Chilling delivery.
I think “Your resistance is hopeless, Number One” was even better.

A terrible line from the same episode (paraphrasing): “I have been reluctantly forced to conclude that Commander Shelby is the best choice for first officer.” What kind of a CO says something like that?

I don't know. I've always liked that line.

I'm not sure if this qualifies, since it's from (The Maquis pt 2, when Sisko was still just a commander...

Sisko: On Earth, there is no poverty, no crime, no war. You look out the window of Starfleet Headquarters and you see Paradise. Well, it's easy to be a saint in Paradise, but the Maquis do not live in Paradise. Out there in the demilitarized zone, all the problems haven't been solved yet. Out there, there are no saints — just people. Angry, scared, determined people who are going to do whatever it takes to survive, whether it meets with Federation approval or not!

But I also have a great one from the same episode from Dukat, who definitely was a gul, which, as we've established, makes him elligible...
Taunting his Maquis kidnappers (awesome scene)

Gul Dukat: Anyone can blow up a ship. Ha! But to look your enemy in the eye, knowing you'll remember his face for the rest of your life, now that takes... a stomach, much stronger than you'll ever have.

I've always liked Picard's line from Encounter at Farpoint: "If we're going to be damned, let's be damned for who we really are."

I think of that if I'm ever tempted to let myself be unduly influenced by other people's expectations of who I should be or what I should do.

Another Janeway line....

"Dismissed. That's Starfleet for: get out."

Another Janeway quote:

"Ever since my first day on the job as a Starfleet Captian, I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these Godforsaken paradoxes. Future is past, past is future--it all gives me a headache."

And here is one more:

"Listen to me very carefully because I'm only going to say this once. Coffee. Black."

Kirk in The Search for Spock: "The word is no. I am therefore going anyway."

That always cracks me up, and it's really the entire character in a nutshell.

Good man! :techman:

Yup. Here's a good one:

"I don't like to lose! I don't believe...in The No Win Scenario...."

Sisko: I'm not Picard.

Janeway: I don't like bullies, and I don't like threats, and I don't like You, Culluh.

Picard
: There are Four lights!

Kirk: I'm stimulating him.

Picard: I laughed out loud.
:vulcan:

Curious and awkward line that will become one of the defining moments of his character later on in the series.

Picard: "I am... Locutus of Borg. Your life as it has been... It over. From this point onward you'll service... us."
Chilling delivery.

MR. Worf,......FIRE! du du du du...du du du AND "To be concluded", One of the only times I was on my knees screaming at the TV ...NNNNNOOOOOO!!! :guffaw:

Captains do get the best lines, as they're written to be, well, commanding.

Here are some of the gems I've always liked:

PIKE: Is your blood red like ours? I'm going to find out! (The Cage)

PIKE: Just to show you how primitive humans are, Talosian, you go with her, too. (Number One is building up an overload in her phaser, and Pike is sparing Vina and the Keeper, The Cage.)

KIRK: You mean you're the lunatic who's responsible for nearly destroying my ship? (The Doomsday Machine)

KIRK: One hundred . . . serpents. Serpents for the Garden of Eden. (A Private Little War)

PICARD: You've just committed an act of utter barbarity! (When the Bough Breaks)

PICARD: On the contrary. I find you obvious and vulgar! (To Ardra when she tries to seduce him, Devil's Due)

SISKO: I thought I'd say hello first, and then take the office! (To Kira in The Emissary)

SISKO: I don't like the Dominion, I don't like what it stands for, and I don't like you. So let's skip the hollow pleasantries and get down to business. (Think that's to Weyoun, don't recall the ep.)

JANEWAY: At ease, Mr. Kim, before you sprain something. (Caretaker)

JANEWAY: You are NOT in control here! (Think that's from the ep where aliens have been experimenting on the crew, and Janeway is speeding Voyager into a star to break their hold.)

ARCHER: Who's idea was it to come here again? (The Andorian Incident.) (The other Archer line I like is when he threatens to knock T'Pol on her ass, but I just don't recall the exact line.)
