Best Klingon Book

Saratoga NX-3842

Supreme Overlord of the Universe
I'm looking for the best Klingon novel. I'm having a KLingon afternoon to quote Odo.

I've read the Final Reflection and the Gorkon books as well as the Left Hand of Destiny...

Anything else out there featuring Klingons worth reading?

The novels A Time to Kill by David Mack and A Time for War, a Time for Peace by self have a great deal of Klingon politics in them. (The book between them, A Time to Heal, also by Dave, is certainly worth reading, but has very little Klingon in it.) There's more in Articles of the Federation, though Klingon stuff is only a part of the wider tapestry of that novel.

The Lost Era: The Art of the Impossible, also by me, chronicles an 18-year conflict between the Cardassians and Klingons, and includes (among other things) a dramatization of the Khitomer Massacre.

You say you've read the Gorkon books, but have you read all of them? There's the TNG novel that introduced the ship, Diplomatic Implausibility; there's the crossover duology The Brave and the Bold, which features Klag and the Gang in Book 2; there's the three books under the I.K.S. Gorkon banner, A Good Day to Die, Honor Bound, and Enemy Territory; and then there's the Klingon Empire novel A Burning House.

For 23rd-century Klingony goodness, there's Excelsior: Forged in Fire by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin, which is the prequel to "Blood Oath."

If you're into comics, I strongly recommend the five-issue miniseries (also collected into a trade paperback) from IDW Blood Will Tell by Scott & David Tipton and David Messina. There's also an Alien Spotlight: Klingons one-shot coming later this month by me and JK Woodward.

That should keep you going. :klingon:

Michael Jan Friedman's Kahless is a solid read.

Majliss Larson's Pawns and Symbols is fantastic look at TOS Klingons, especially Kang.

The Art of the Impossible is a must read. If you have not read it yet I think you'll find it is not only one of the best Klingon books, but is one of the best Trek books. It was an awesome read.

It's also a pretty good Cardassian novel as well.

I'd like to add another recomendation for The Art of the Impossible, it's one of my favorite books Trek or not.

Another shout out for A Burning House. Kahless (JMF) was um, a little less to shout about. Art of The impossible was excellent too.

I do wonder about the need to make sure everyone has an ancestor who was a player in the TrekVerse. It is fun to see the lineage of characters but it seems like medieval times when sons HAD to follow in the family business.

For me, all of the Klingon books written by KRAD are a must buy for me. Also the Left Hand of Destiny written by Martok himself (JG Hertzler), and Jeffery Lang are good as well.

Another shout-out to KRAD's Klingon books over here :klingon:. The Art of The Impossible, Diplomatic Implausibility, the three Gorkon books, and A Burning House. I read AotI overa weekend, then the next week I read DI in an evening, followed by the Gorkon books and A Burning House in a very short window. I couldn't help it :techman:. They are excellent, and I highly recommend them all. You should also check out the IDW Klingon mini-series from 2007. Also a great read, and the art is beautiful.

Im quite fond of Dayton Ward's In the Name of Honour, and as others have stated KRAD's work is always worth checking out.

The title mentioned so far far are all good. I especially liked The Final Reflection and Pawns and Symbols.

I hold a desperate (and very unrealistic) hope that John Meredyth Lucas' script for the never-filmed Phase II episode Kitumba will be adapted into a novel someday.

I know, I know....a guy can dream can't he? :)
