Best John Williams scores?(Non Star Wars)

Yeah ... it's certainly better than Chamber of Secrets which, in many ways, feels a bit like a "clone" of Attack of the Clones. I suppose you could make the argument that Sorcerer's Stone was as good as Azkaban, but I've always enjoyed the mood, tone and diversity of Azkaban. And I just love the melody for "Window to the Past" along with "Hagrid the Professor" and "The Patronus Light."

The Patriot isn't that bad of a score, either. Though it can be a bit too bombastic, I really like the main theme.

My non Star Wars fave would be "Catch me if you can" I loved the music in that film.

John Williams has got his critics but I think he is brilliant

My top 5 fav. John Williams soundtrack..

1. Jurassic Park
2. Saving Private Ryan
3. Indiana Jones
4. 1984 LA Olympics
5. E.T.

I've always loved the Jurassic Park soundtrack. And I agree, Catch Me if You Can, is loads of fun! John Williams is pretty brilliant...

I was gonna bring up that. Great score.

Also Jurrassic Park is one of my all time favorites. The Terminal, Jaws and Saving Private Ryan are also great.

What, no love for Superman? The Main Theme from Superman the Movie is my favorite William's score. I have it on my iPod and it's a great motivator when I'm running on the treadmill. I would rate it above Star Wars...

These critics must be drinking the same water as those that don't believe man walked on the moon.

Well, both groups refer to the 19th Century - one to the music, the other to scientific beliefs. :bolian:

Me, I still gotta love his Superman score. It soars, arguably more so than his other heroic music. :D

I also like his Hermann-esque score for Minority Report.

Superman: The Movie, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Catch Me If You Can, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban and Minority Report come to mind.

- Superman: The Movie
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Star Wars Saga
- Raiders of the Lost Ark
- Jurassic Park
- E.T.

Prisoner of Azkaban - I simply love "Window to the Past" and "Buckbeak's Flight"... they were perfect themes for Remus and Sirius IMO.
Jurassic Park - I'm still totally in love with the theme.

Gotta go with Raiders.

I never get tired of it, and I can't look at a picture of Indy without thinking of it.

John Williams is absolutely brilliant. The music he's created is so iconic and inextricably linked to the films it accompanies that it's difficult to imagine certain films without it. Everyone knows the themes from Jaws, Star Wars and Indiana Jones, even if they don't know who composed them. He goes above and beyond what is required and creates a piece of music that is able to stand on its own apart from a movie. Nobody can touch his skills, and those that disagree are just player haters.:techman:
