what about a film told entirely from gordons viewpoint? kinda like cloverfield but with guns.
Maybe we just don't get to hear what (few words) he does say?Agreed. They ought to make a movie out of this.Easy. Half-Life 2.![]()
I wonder if that would work. After all, HL's protagonist is famously silent... and I can't imagine a proper HL movie without Gordon Freeman.
My list of favorite game plots:
Deus Ex -- Here's a game that did an excellent job of taking most conspiracy theories you've heard of, and weaved them into a cohesive plot that didn't sound completely insane or outlandish. Considering this game came out pre-9/11, it's actually a bit creepy how prescient it was: a world at war with terrorism, out-of-control gas prices, incognito police states, etc
That would be great...so long as it isn't another Invisible War-type crapfest and is more in keeping with the excellence of the original.Deus Ex is another one; I still hold out hope that we will get a Deus Ex 3 some day.
Yeah, it was III. And yeah, the thing with Hobbes pissed me off as well. And no video game has ever made me more upset than Wing Commander III(I think it was III) where Hobbes story takes an abrupt left turn and the result of that action.
Another vote for Deus Ex - I would have liked to have seen it adapted for a movie - shame it never came to light. Who would you have cast as JC Denton, though? My list of favorite game plots:

Yeah Deus Ex hands down. I mean I don't think any video game actually made me curious about the origin of the modern banking system. I think it was certainly the most sophisticated story ever written for a video game. To me playing the game felt very much like watching a good cyberpunk movie. Hey did you know that the twin towers were actually missing in the Manhattan skyline in the game?

Very spooky indeed. On the morning of 9/11 I was in AP English and I actually thought of Deus Ex immediately when the teacher turned on the news.Apparently the absence of the Twin Towers in the New York levels was a programming omission at the time - it was allegedly too much for the computers at the time (year 2000) to recreate it in-game, and so Warren Spector made the off-hand excuse that they were destroyed in a terror attack at some point in the early 21st Century. Spooky, eh?

Christian Bale would probably be the favorite of majority here but my choice would be Keanu Reeves.
Somebody made this nice Deus Ex trailer featuring Christian Bale and music/sound from the game.
Uh, I know. My hope that it's not crappy remains, though.Uh, we're getting another Deux Ex this year.
I remember talking about this with a mate ages ago (the same person who made me aware of DX's existence, in fact) and we wondered what ending they'd go with for a movie. We never got around to discussing casting, though.Another vote for Deus Ex - I would have liked to have seen it adapted for a movie - shame it never came to light. I read that somewhere a while back.
