Best episodes of Sliders?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
hey all, i've been wanting to get back into this show for months now, and finally, i have some time.

so instead of watching every single episode, i was wondering if anyone could tell me the best episodes with the best stories?

thanks

I'd recommend watching the highly enjoyable seasons 1-2 straight through - and then bow out.

I'm not sure about the US editions, but here in the UK the episodes are presented out of order on the Season 1/2 DVD Box set - and can make the continuity between certain episodes quite bizarre.

The following is the correct viewing order:

"Sliders"
"Summer of Love"
"Prince of Wails"
"Fever"
"Last Days"
"The Weaker Sex"
"Eggheads"
"The King Is Back"
"Luck Of The Draw"
"Into the Mystic"
"Time Again And World"
"El Sid"
"Love Gods"
"The Good, The Bad And The Wealthy"
"As Time Goes By"
"Gillian Of The Spirits"
"Obsession"
"Invasion"
"Post Traumatic Slide Syndrome"
"In Dino Veritas"
"Greatfellas"
"The Young And The Relentless"

They are completely screwed up in the USA version of the show too.

I agree, pretty much just watch these episodes, there might be a random decent episode in the beginning of season 3, but I doubt it.

If you don't want to watch them all, I can think of a few later to skip, the dinosaur episode really isn't that important.

I've always watched In Dino Veritas before Post Traumatic Slide Syndrome. I know they never addressed the issue at all but with the truth collars you'd think the first thing the other Sliders would ask the Professor would be "Is the bridge in your home world San Fransisco Golden or Azure?"

Also, I know the episodes of season 3 take a dramatic slide in quality, but Wade looks way hotter in those episodes.

I think any of the game changing eps are the best, the other ones are just stories of the week for the most part. I agree the first two seasons are the best as the character interactions are at their strongest. Other than those first episodes you could watch Doublecross, The Guardian and Slide Like an Egyptian, all from Season 3. Also The Exodus 2-parter is where Maggie is introduced but also the end of an Era. Almost any episode after that is crap.

I forgot to mention Electric Twister Acid Test; it's got Julie Benz.

I don't think there are any truly great episodes of the show. While I thought it was great as a kid, I realized how corny and lacking in potential it was when I bought the first and second seasons.

The one I would add is the season three episode "Double Cross"; it was meant to be the season three premiere, but ended up being aired second. "Double Cross" is a good episode with some unique angles of sliding to add, and it gives a taste of how things visually changed in season three.

There are things I like about the rest of the series, but it never lived up to season one. The show lost something when Robert K. Weiss backed off in season two; and I think John Landis and Leslie Belzberg leaving after season one had some effect to. The comedy element suffered, and I think that was an important part of the Sliders mix.

In all, I still love the series; I accept it even with its flaws. However, I agree that season one and two are what people need to watch. Watching the rest may just break your heart.

Season 1 was best. The only thing season 2 had going for it was the original cast was still intact.

That episode where they slide to the 1980s and Quinn's double is a young boy being bullied at school was pretty good, I thought.

That is a pretty good episode too. It wasn't the 1980s, it was "present day", but time moved slower on that world.
