Best Episode of TAS

Magicks of Megas-Tu. The craziest episode of Star Trek ever.
And perhaps the most like a TOS episode? "Yesteryear" wouldn't qualify as Spock is alone apart from the crew for most of the episode and TOS rarely revisited a location it had already gone to before onscreen (the Guardian of forever)

Magiks, Yesteryear, and How Sharper a Serpents Tooth, mainly because of the title.
"How Sharp Is A Serpent's Tooth?" if that's the title, is one of my (very few) favourite TAS episodes. It's not the BEST, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's different and unintentionally funny, throughout.
I like TAS because of the kitsch feeling.
Just binged the series on Bluray.
Except for Yesteryear-- all the sequel episodes were awful...Mudds, Once Upon a Planet, Tribbles. As were all the "what if" episodes...what if Kirk turns into a water breather?, what if the crew grew younger?, what if the crew shrinks, etc.
For all the talk of "doing in animation what was impossible in live action..." -- the best episodes probably could have been done in live action....Yesteryear, Time Trap, One of Our Planets is missing, Slaver Weapon, etc.
With a few compromises they could have been done live. And except for reusing the Guardian, they weren't really high concept ideas but good dramatic stories.
Lastly, wow, did "season 2" have a huge drop off in quality. I found only Pirates of Orion to be any good from the last 6.
And I don't think David Gerrold ever found the same weed he was smoking again when he wrote Tribbles the first time. I hated the Tribbles sequel and BEM.

The council scene in Time Trap would have been awesome in live action. To see not just usual allies
-- Tellarites, Andorians, Vulcans -- but also the adversary races, Gorn, Romulan, Klingon, Orion all sitting at the same table....Great.
All you need is some kit bashed alien ships, a council chamber and you're set.
The outdoor scenes on Vulcan would have been tough but possble.

Haha ... yes, along with a bear suit, for cast-interaction. Moth-eaten, fake-furred, with excessively huge, obscenely white fangs ... and a ghastly head!
Sure, they could use a circus bear who would pose no threat to the actors, in fact the actors may not even be physically present during the bear "sehlat" shooting.
I'm a big fan of The Magicks of Megas-Tu and The Time Trap. The former because it is so bonkers and controversial to be a Saturday morning cartoon and I love that about it, and it's message is great. And if there is one episode of TAS that I wish could have been adapted to live-action in TOS, it's The Time Trap. A fantastic concept that was extremely well-executed.
One thing it proved was that stories could be told well in half-hour or less segments.

I love One Of Our Planets Is Missing most. For me it's basically the Original to STTMP's remake of the story. I love both.
Well, basically STTMP is a Remake-Mix of OOOPIM and The Changeling.
