Scorpion gets my vote. It not only effectively used the Borg in a way that didn't feel like a BoBW retread but it energized the series and gave me some hope after a very weak third season. It isn't a flawless episode but it is still excellent in my mind.
You had the perfect teaser of the unseen attackers destroying two cubes; the little realistic touches--Janeway reviewing the logs of captains who engaged the Borg, Neelix preparing rations given they are entering Borg space, the Doctor studying the Borg corpse to find a way to fend off assimilation; Chakotay's ominous "My God" at the sight of fifteen cubes; Species 8472 were a visually stunning race; liked the idea of a race more powerful than the Borg; Janeway/Chakotay showdown. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the DaVinci scenes.
Scorpion was VOY's best Season finale, and probably one of their best eps overall, but I cast my vote for Remember, which I find incredibly moving and features an amazing performance from Roxann Dawson.
Ack, I've forgotten which plots go with these titles again. I can't believe I'm the only one, so for anyone who needs their memory jogged -
Remember - B'lana receives alien memories of a love affair and social upheaval Before and After - Kes starts as a old woman and jumps backward through time Distant Origin - Chakotay runs into aliens descended from earth's dinos Worst Case Scenario - Tuvok's holoprogram of a Maquie mutiny becomes popular Scorpion - Janeway forms an alliance with the Borg against species 8472
I'm voting for Worst case Scenario, it was just a really fun episode.
