Thanks for voting in the second season polls. This is the first part of the third season poll where you have to vote the three episodes you consider to be the best. The five episodes receiving the most votes will go on to the next round. Well, you know the routine. ;)

Winners to date:
Conspiracy (Season 1)
Q Who? (Season 2)

The poll is open for three days.

There are too many good episodes in this season it would be easier to pick the 3 most average episodes. I ended up choosing Who Watches The Watchers, The Defector and Yesterday's Enterprise. I'll be surprised if The Best of Both Worlds doesn't win this though.

A lot of really good candidates in this season. BOBW and The Survivors were my two clear picks, then for the third, after much internal debate, I went with a personal favourite, The High Ground.

I know I'm probably asking for too much, but I really hope BoBW doesn't win. That poor horse really needs to be buried.

Deja Q, The Offspring and BOBW.

Although it's a popular episode, Yesterday's Enterprise is not my favourite. It could be, but I dislike Tasha in that episode. I would really like to see more Data, Riker and Geordi in that future than Tasha.

i went with two undeniable, unavoidable classics - "yesterday's enterprise" and "the best of both worlds," and one personal favorite - "booby trap."

"booby trap" is a really underrated episode. some great character scenes - geordi's luckless scam on christy, picard's "thrilling, that was absolutely thrilling," the great "didn't any of you play with ships in bottles as boys" scene, picard muttering "damn you" at the aceton assimilators, great background history on the enterprise, an exciting ending, and a wonderful TOS-style "turn the machines OFF once in a while" humanist message that somehow, weirdly, never seems clumsy or heavy-handed. this is a great episode - a "modern" trek feel with a classic, timeless roddenberry-style message.

'Yesterday's Enterprise' is my favourite of the season, followed by 'The Best of Both Worlds' and 'The Offspring'. There are many other great episodes though.

Captain's Holiday
I absolutely adore this episode. It was marvelous to get to see the relaxed, off-duty Jean-Luc Picard suavely romance the beautiful, lady archaeologist. Wonderfully written by Ira Steven Behr, this episode is an homage to the great romantic films of the 40's. Vash is Bacall to Picard's Bogart. Watch Bogart and Bacall in the classic movie "To Have and Have Not" and then watch "Captain's Holiday." Vash's brazenness complements Picard's more sedate personality perfectly. She is the ideal foil for Picard's straight man. Picard and Vash have a very compelling 'battle of wills' dynamic to their relationship. The characterizations and relationship dynamics between Picard and Vash makes this episode a pure joy to watch.

"Is that an order?" Vash
"Absolutely." Picard
"This isn't a starship, Jean-Luc. I don't follow orders." Vash

"From the moment I met you I knew you were going to be trouble." Picard
"You look like a man who could handle trouble." Vash

"Well, any woman who can beat a Ferengi at his own game bears watching." Picard to Vash about Vash

"I'll never forget that look on your face when you thought I was offering you Jamaharon." Vash
"That was a simple misunderstanding." Picard
"You did seem a little disappointed when I turned you down." Vash

"Still think I'm trouble?" Vash to Picard after he kisses her.
"I'm sure of it." Picard to Vash kissing her again.

"Promise me you will try and stay out of trouble." Picard
"I always try." Vash

And then my favorite Picard & Riker moment;

". . . about that Horga'hn you requested." Picard
"Yes, sir..." Riker (feigning innocence)
"We need to have a little chat about that." Picard

My other two favorite episodes from this season were 'Yesterday's Enterprise' and 'The Best of Both Worlds.'

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

Too many good ones to pick from this season! I'll go with Deja Q (the end still makes me laugh out loud), The Offspring, and Best of Both Worlds.

Best of Both Worlds
Yesterday's Enterprise
The Defector

Almost mixed Sarek in there just for Patrick Stewart's scene battling uber vulcan emotion. Epic stuff.

The Defector
The Offspring
Best of Both Worlds - Season 3's best

That said, this season is packed full with MANY good episodes. I almost included Yesterday's Enterprise and Sarek, but its only three episodes choice poll, so...

I voted ...

The Defector
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sarek

BTW, this poll is closed. Part two is up here.
