ooh tough choices.. Season 2 is probably my favorite of TOS. I went with:

• The Doomsday Machine
• The Deadly Years
• The Ultimate Computer

My three favourites are Mirror, Mirror, Obsession, and A Piece of the Action.

I probably should explain...two of the above. TNGers constantly accuse Kirk and Company of running around the galaxy breaking the Prime Directive at will. However, A Piece of the Action and Friday's Child are classic examples of our TOS heroes doing their very best to either correct a PD problem in APotA or avoid Klingon abuses of a basically PD world in FC. I like APotA because the "on the fly" humor is outstanding and very in-character for both Kirk and Spock. FC has other sub-issues that make this a strong plot: the Big 3's interference in the customary execution of Catwoman...er...Julie Newmar and Scotty trying to avoid conflict.

I attract people of impeccable tastes all the time. Except in the Caption This threads.

Sadly, as much as I love the Giant Space Amoeba, it can't beat out any of my three favorites for this season. I voted for:

- Amok Time (JIM!)
- The Doomsday Machine (Don't you think I know that?)
- and Journey to Babel (Kirk's Butt-Fu)

I agree. That was my first choice. Narrowing down the other two was a bit harder. The whole episode is great, but William Windom's portrayal of Decker, probably my single favorite TOS guest character, really tips it over the top.

Funny, because those last three words, "over the top," sum up my feelings about Windom's performance in this episode and is what weakens it slightly for me. While most of the episode is fairly intense, I always find myself snickering through many of Decker's scenes because Windom is hamming it up possibly more than any other Trek guest star ever has.

A tough one because there are so many great episodes. I finally settled on:

Amok Time
Mirror, Mirror
The Trouble With Tribbles

 

[Trekwatcher]

Doomsday Machine is just hard to beat on so many levels. Great setup, great guest, great effects, great ending.

Top notch all around.
