Beltran to play Chak in the next Renegades

Very interesting. Thank you. You made some great points. I think, new Star Trek with new actors is necessary to get new fans and to develop new stories. But for me will only Robert Beltran be Chakotay. I can`t (and don´t want) imagine other actors in this role. I don´t care about a J/C relationsship with other actors. For me it`s always Robert/Kate.

It would be so good if he could be Chakotay again.https://www.facebook.com/AtomicProduction /photos/a.514444175253647.122097.514118728619525/1215374478493943/?type=3&theater

For info, Beltran's character's name in Renegades will be Cordero and I won't be surprised if he still plays a rebel... . IF this theory was confirmed, all these years where Chakotay/Cordero has spent in the Delta Quadrant, to serve under a Starfleet uniform as temporary 1st officer would have served no purpose, If it isn't an effective way to escape the Voyager's brig!

"A day, a rebel, always rebel"!

Ghislaine, I am under the impression that you're - still - very much looking forward to seeing Renegades, despite its altered state. ... Is this true?

Well, at the beginning, I was just interested to see how producers and writers were going to continue to introduce faces known from the saga like Tuvok, Adm Paris and even the Doctor, in a totally new story. Of course, it isn't stamped Universal or CBS but well, after to have already read some fanfictions whose the quality was equal to some episode of ST: Voyagers, I wanted to give a chance to Renegades. Plus, the story was original.
I managed to watch the first 30 minutes before being bored. I knew that another one (or 2) episode was planned but honestly, I didn't think to watch it.
It's one of my Facebook correspondants who Indicated me the presence of Robert Beltran and Terry Farrell, resuming their roles of Chakotay and Jadzia in the next episode (which will be composed of 2 parts). And my curiosity got the best of me! ;)
2 reasons : 1) I was left hungry after to have watched ST :Voyager 2) since I follow DS9, I would have loved to see a character like Jadzia Dax on the Voyager, in particular in scenes with Tuvok, the Doctor or even Seven! I still don't know if these meeting will happen but well, we can always dream... ;)
So, yes, I will watch the 1st part. And if I'm bored again with the sequel, I'll stop watching!

As for the altered version, I understood that names/physical details and even personalities change to only avoid strong fines from CBS/Paramount, but Russ, Beltran, Farrell, Picardo etc... will be always Tuvok, Chakotay, Jadzia, the Doctor, etc... for me. ;)

I'm actually way more excited by Renegades being "pseudo Trek" than I was when it was a Trek fan film. I imagine that, since fans donated expecting a story set in the Star Trek universe, they'll keep it as close as humanly possible while avoiding the wrath of CBS (Kovok, Java and Pavel Tolstoy are Tuvok, Jadzia and Pavel Chekov in all but name, the Federation is now the Confederation etc.)
I'm really fascinated by the idea of an ongoing Renegades series, which gradually moves further and further away from Star Trek.

For info, it was confirmed that Cordero/Chakotay is in Maquis. Decidedly...
-> If Adm. Janeway had been around, I am not sure that she would have been delighted of this situation).

.... AGREED!!! Chakotay had a distinct change of heart, during VOYAGER, and would never want to join the Maquis, again. He's a Man of Peace. But Beltran has, apparently, decided that he stopped caring what was done with the Chakotay character long ago. So very long ago, indeed. Make him join the Maquis to reek havoc and mischief. Have him finally marry Janeway and start a beautiful family. Cause him to perform the Ultimate Sacrifice to $ave the Life of his most hated enemy ... it's all the same. Doubly so, when there isn't a paycheque involved, I guess, too.

Well, Beltran/Cordero looks as woken as in last seasons of STV! ;) At less there seems be more action with Farrell/Jada (she is the woman in red who intervenes rather brutally in the almost last second!

Ahahahaha. Yeah.

They are only at 60% of their goal. I wonder if this thing will be made (complete). seems like a few fans who shelled out money are angry with the CBS rejecting the ST branding of this.

According to their website, they already reached 94% for The Requiem post-production and they wait to know how well will be welcome the 2 parts of this new episode to make more.
Plus you're right to say that most of contributors gave in reaction to CBS/Paramount new rules.

Oh, I got my numbers from Manu Intiraymi. Oh well. okay then.

You know when you're feeling gaseous and you're not sure if it's a shit, or a fart, but you let 'er rip, anyway? That's what it's like with "Renegades," now ...

A correction with regard to my previous: the initial goal was to reach $60 000 for the covering of the costs of post-production on part one of "The Requiem" and they managed to do it within a week thank to 691 backers. Now they need $90,000 to cover the post-production for part two and some other costs. And there, it risks to be a little more difficult ...

I'm rewatching Voy atm.

The guy is completely deadpan in scenes he should have shown emotion in.

He's more deadpan than Tuvok.

He really puts the "dead" in deadpan!

He is, frankly, terrible. Having seen Renegades he should fit right in.

Oh yes, I remember a particular scene, in which Janeway and Cie were in the conference, surrounding Chakotay who just learnt his paternity and that the mother, Seska, intended to keep the baby with her. Don't remember if it was in S2 or 3 but anyway. Everyone agreed to help him getting back his son, despite the danger and Chakotay's answer to this general support was: "Euh, thank you. (I don't remember if he added "I don't know what to say...."), like if Neelix announced a change in the menu and Chakotay thanked him for the information... Come on, how can Chakotay be also indifferent, while it's his son, his own blood, who is in the midst of it!
Well, Beltran's performance was just emotionless, while the scene requested some anger towards Seska to have used and tricked him, some impatience fight out with Kullen and to get back his son quickly, some gratitude towards his friends! :sigh:

Maybe Tuvok is emotionless too but it's the character who wants that. He is a Vulcan of 110 years old and in spite of this supposed stoicism, his performer, Tim Russ managed to pass on a pallet of feelings, like the doubt, the anger, the happiness, the serenity, the confidence etc... through his eyes, while for Mulgrew, Picardo, McNeil or Dawson, it was rather through the body movements, especially facial expression (plus hands reagardin Mulgrew!) ;)

By the way, the second trailer of Renegades: The Requiem, is online

(Walter Koening is as expressive as Beltran. That's promising! :guffaw:)

For information, pictures of Robert Beltran :

Beltran in the role of Chakotay (1994)

Almost the same clothes, the tattoo disappeared but from Maquis to Renegades, Chakotay/Cordero is an outlaw a day, an outlaw always!

Just for information (the news was given by someone working for Renegades), Tim Russ & producers asked to Kate Mulgrew to reprise her role of Kathryn Janeway* (promoted Admiral, of course) and she refused.
I guess that she had to plead a heavy schedule to decline the offer but the weakness of the scenario didn't have to help either...

-> in this scenario, Beltran's Chakotay/Cordero is single again so, or Seven of Nine is dead or she left him for living her life.

Tim Russ has got The Brass, even asking Kate Mulgrew to join in. She has no problem getting real gigs and is internationally famous. I'm sure she wouldn't have taken it personally, not being invited to Tim's basement to make Fan Films on his phone. "Oh! Robert Beltran's joined the cast, you say? Wow ... really? Alright ... I'll do it." Somehow, I can't imagine those words escaping from her lips, at the prospect. He might want to slim a bit, though, if he wants better gigs than Renegades.

Well, the Voyagerguys are very close, much more than the girls. I`read that they try to protect each other in various projects. So it isn`t a surprise that many of the male Voyagercast is part of films doing by Tim.
