Belly Button Rings, what's the purpose?

Oh, and here is another thing, debated if I should post this or not. She told me about getting this thing, but she said she didn't want to tell dad about it, cause he definitely wouldn't like it. I told her I wouldn't tell him, and thanked her for feeling that she could tell me. But tonight I'm going to tell her that while I won't tell dad, I think she should, and I think she should be honest with him and not keep any secrets from him. This is the first time ever she's really going to do something and not tell him about it. He's a truck driver btw, so we don't get to see him much, he probably won't see her until the Summer, and would find out about it then, but IMO she needs to be the one that tells him, like now, I don't want to see this be the start of her keeping secrets from dad. I'm just going to tell her that I think she should tell him.

Next time she sees him, just tell her to let her midriff show. He'll see it, and she won't have to work up the nerve to say anything. :techman:

I'm a teenage girl, and I think they look ugly and painful. Not to mention the damage they can do if you get it caught or something :/

I'm not sure why people get any piercings, they don't seem worth it to me. My younger sister got her belly button pierced when she was a teenager and she thought it was so cool. But only three years later she had outgrown it and took it out because she thought it was silly and was tired of dealing with it. Your sister will probably get over it one day too.

Does she have her ears pierced? If so, do you see the need for that? Belly button rings are no different.

She got that double piercing thing on her ear, you know where you can get like one little piece of jewelry at the top of your lobe in combination with the bottom being pierced? I saw no need for that either lol

There is no need. There is only want. :vulcan:
Exactly so. I don't understand the huffing. It's a piece of jewelery, no different from an earring. You may like it or you may not, but it's not a big deal. Personally, I don't mind it, but it really depends on the girl.

Since she's underage, I think she need her guardian's permission to get pierced.

I don't want to see this be the start of her keeping secrets from dad.
Emh, I don't want to burst your bubble, but at 16 she has already plenty of secrets. ;)

Her mom is taking her to get it done

She's pretty open with me, i'm sure there are lots of things she hasn't told me, but there are also lots of things she has, which I am thankful for that I can be there to listen and be there for her to open up to, but I know there are certainly lots of things I don't know either and really wouldn't want to, heh

I'm not in a huff about anything, I may dislike her choice, but like an above poster noted, in a few years she'll probably outgrow it, phases and changes and all

tru .dat

The last girl I dated had her clit pierced...she liked it alot...but I could careless really.

My girlfriend used to have her navel pierced. It's healed up now, though you can easily see where it was.

However, she just recently got her nose pierced and is wearing a small stud. I must say, it looks quite nice. NOw, in her case the nose piercing was a little from family pressure (a cultural thing), and she was putting it off because of the fear of pain. I don't know how she can bear having that thing in there. It looks like she has a spring inside her nostril. We were making out the other day and she hissed for a second because my nose had pushed into the side of hers and it hurt.

I can't imagine getting any piercing, let alone some of the extreme ones. How any guy could contemplate getting a Prince Albert is beyond me.

Well, in that case it's more between her mom and her dad than between you and her.

Yeah, maybe huff was not the best word, apologies for that. I was just surprised at your bafflement, since I think it's pretty normal.

I (wholeheartedly) agree, but on the other hand I'm seriously thinking about getting a tattoo, so I guess it is just different strokes for different people.
