Beeb's Outcasts coming soon

What the hell's wrong with the BBC? Eh? I've seen numerous adverts/clips and trailers for this show. Precisely none of them feature Jamie Bamber. Seems to me that they'd think it might be a good idea to bring in a sf audience using a recognised sf face.

Jamie Who?

googling him, he was on a show watched by about 300,000 people in the UK. His presence in a trailer is going to make little or no difference. People who follow the guy will already know, nobody else will give a shit.

Or the 6 million viewers that recognize him from Law and Order: UK?

Well killing off their best character in the first ep was a bold move. He was supposed to be the baddie but he was the best thing in it, since the two 'cops' are horribly self-righteous. I'm still going with the Spooks in Space but I'll give it another shot.

Whatshername from Spooks has only one character she can play. As soon as you see her, you know it's going to be doom-laden with lots of emoting.

I'm gonna give it a watch now.
I'm not keen on whatshername (Hermione Norris). Usually annoys me.
And damn it my recorder missed the start of the episode.

You could always watch the opening on iplayer? Or is that taking things a bit too far? Steady on, chaps etc.

Thought it was pretty good really. Enough to keep me watching tonight's episode anyway. Shame they killed the most interesting character, still I think it's going to turn out not to have been him.

It was good enough to make me want to tune in again tonight. There were a few irritating moments, but not enough of them to turn me away -- unlike Minnie Driver's Big Underwater Adventure from a few months ago.

'Sfunny I was just thinking about that Minnie Driver/James Nesbitt production in relation to this. It could have been so much better if the director had just cut out all the extraneous shite and shortened it by a couple of episodes. It doesn't look like a second outing has been sanctioned and it doesn't surprise me. Provided they don't get all messy like that, Outcasts looks much more promising.

Outcasts has a larger cast and a much bigger canvas to work with than The Deep. What was saddest about the Deep was that it had potential, it just needed to be about 2 episodes shorter than it was!

What d'you mean? Not him that killed his wife? I think so too.

Yeah, did think I should have clarified after I posted it, but couldn't be arsed.
It seems like he wouldn't have been believed even if he said it wasn't him, and what was the point in making it ambiguous if it was him?

He didn't express any regret for her to the others but then I think the glance at his psych eval was supposed to impart that he was schizo. It's still a shame he was offed so quickly into it. I have a feeling that as the story unfolds he will be one of the few people whose moral compass hasn't been compromised (notwithstanding killing a man without batting an eye).

Saw the first episode and enjoyed it. I'm curious to see how things will progress. Though I'm sorry about the character loss in episode one mentioned above (not that I don't see it making sense but ...).

Hmmmm. Why is the Rank Badyin given a free pass to the council? Can't anyone else see his evil smirk? He reminds me of Morgana in Merlin.

Damn you Deckerd!!!!

You beat me to the punch, I was going to say he'd been taking lessons off Morgana as well!

Is it just me, and I say this as someone who is at best agnostic, but just for once could the religious guy not be the evil bad guy?

Yes, Baltar-lite seems to have perfected those evil little glances in the closing shot!

Much better tonight. Not great, but good I thought. Shame most people will most likely have already tuned out. Is there another episode tomorrow night?
