I enjoyed it. Total Moffat and Gatiss at their most Moffat and Gattis. The count himself was like a more tongue in cheek Pierce Brosnan and the castle scenes retained the uneasy nightmarish feel of the novel.
My main gripe is that watched after this evening’s Doctor Who, it made me realise how much the latter misses the wit and spark those writers brought to it.

One episode on the Jan 1, one on Jan 2 and one on Jan 3 in the UK. Then to Netflix on the 4th.

Loved it and I have to agree, made Who seem very bland by comparison. Can't wait for part 2. The Count is wonderful but Dolly Wells as Sister Agatha might be even more glorious!

I loved it, though I had to watch half last night and half this morning owing to a bad mix of New Years Eve/Day and working silly hours.
It revels slightly in how crazy it is with its witty dialogue, yet it is also quite chilling to watch at time.
I look forward to seeing where it goes.

I take it the nuns detectives friend in London is Sherlock.
That was my assumption too.
Still (dead and) loving it. The cutaway from the cliffhanger and how they ultimately flashed back to it was such a Moffat trope. The new cast on the ship were great (ironically Dr Sharma had been in Doctor Who the day before).
I actually guessed that there might be a time jump seconds before I was proved right.
Here's hoping episode 3 maintains the quality.

The time jump caught me completely by surprise! The chess game was very "mind palace" wasn't it!
Was good for a bit. Then it wasn't. Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.
Or to put it another way, shit...
Honestly, I loved it. It was like 3 different films, mostly different casts, different settings but held together by Claes and Wells. Brilliant twists on vampire mythos (mirrors, sunlight etc). Loved Drac adapting to the modern world and looking awestruck at the slightly chavvy house. Not to mention the Dracula 1972 AD nod on the doors.

If only Eon would let them do a period Bond tv miniseries.
That will never happen, due to a lot of the dated elements in many of the first set of Fleming Bond novels, particularly Live And Let Die. It's best to have Bond movies (and novels) set now.
Oh I know it’ll never happen, which was why I said “if only”, rather than “I hope.” But as regards the outdated elements, well, as this adaptation (as well as Sherlock) has shown, it’s not like they feel themselves constrained to be faithful to the source material.
Given the ratings, I'd imagine his next job will be on the tills in Tesco.
