BBC Considers Splitting Fifth 'Doctor Who' Season

At the end of the day football can be dull, but it can also be skillfull and exciting and a joy to watch- as for the scoring element, well I've seen 0-0s that were the most exciting games ever, whilst I once watched Derby county (my team) thrash Tranmere 5-0 (or 5-1) and it was a really dull game

And I watched Cardiff City (my team) thrash Derby County (your team) 4-1 and it was a brilliant game See football caters for all.

I'd add too that most tournaments will have 2 or 3 games on a day taking up a good solid 5 hours of coverage once you have build-up and post-match interviews/analysis/highlights.

Incidentally, what's the timezone in South Africa compared to the UK? For I all know, the football will be being played at 10am GMT.

Personally I never want America to get football, because given their population size and facilities/money they could bring to bear on it, if they ever did likely they would become a major player...and then they'd just be so insufferable!

*shrugs* I wasn't meaning that to diss soccer/football. It's actually my personal favorite sport (which, granted, isn't saying much, but there it is). But it's just a fact: Soccer is not a popular sport in the United States. Never has been. Probably never will be. Little boys in America grow up dreaming of playing baseball or basketball or American football, not soccer. So, naturally, there has never been enough people interested in it to attract or support the kinds of teams you'd need for the US to really end up winning the World Cup or being a major player in international soccer/football. (The owners of the LA Galaxy tried to build up soccer's popularity by hiring David Beckham, but I'm afraid it's just never caught on.)

Personally I never want America to get football, because given their population size and facilities/money they could bring to bear on it, if they ever did likely they would become a major player...and then they'd just be so insufferable!

despite sharing a with with quite a few common letters, no I have not meet him, I assume he is some crazy OG type poster.

but yes the BBC most make Doctor Who & sell it all over the world, to help bring about world peace, we should vote for out world leaders based on how Doctorish they are, and how companionish there wives are.

Still to this american, the games are so low scoring and borderline boring. How does everyone deal with that? Why is it so popular over there when its such a slow game?

I've heard plenty of people complaining about American football being too slow. My mother, in particular, finds it too slow to bother with. "They play for maybe thirty seconds, and then they have a time out and they wander around the field and get into position, and then they play for another thirty seconds, and then another two-minute break..." Obviously speed is in the eye of the beholder.

As for me, I don't see why accruing many points or only a few points even matters.

Good points about Football. Though i feel Baseball is very slow too.

^As an American, I'd have to agree that watching American Football is tedious. It's mind-numbingly slow and hard for me to follow attentively. I zone out at every game I attend. Baseball is also very slow to watch.

As spectator sports go... they both kind of suck, especially in an age where my Tetris games are boring if I'm don't start on Level 9.

Soccer* and Hockey on the other hand, I find very fast-paced, and a lot more interesting to follow along with as a spectator.

*Don't criticize my use of the term 'Soccer', it's what's we fucking call it. It's an alternate term just like hundreds of others our mutual language tends to create due to colloquial separation and I don't want to be attacked for it.
