BBC Axe Robin Hood

also im pretty sure it was not their choice to kill off Marian, I think that was the actress quitting, what would you have the BBC do, kidnap her and force her to act in it?

write her out like they did Will and Djaq?
but the show would still be left without Marian, and would have had to have done everything it did in S3, without killing her people would constantly be expecting her return, and like Robin what exit would you give her?

(yes im aware that she did return)

I'm curious, exactly how crap was this show? I remember hearing it was good when it first started but never managed to catch it and as such things usually go I gave up trying. Then last week I happen to catch it while channel hopping and after about 3 mins decided it was far too naff and decided my time would be better spent watching the "Freeview top-up required" screen on UK Gold.

Maybe I'm prejudiced by nostalgia, but give me 'Maid Marian & Her Merry Men' any day! :p

It is/was fairly rubbish. I doubt too many people are fussed to see it go. But it worked as a harmless distraction and depending on who you listen to it got better or worse with every series.

First was mediocre, second as I recall was slightly better, series 3 had the strongest over arching story of them all, some of the better action, and took more risks, but at the same time it just seemed to fall flat a lot of the time.

I wonder if this cancellation would make it easier or harder to get my dreamed of Robin Hood crossover episode on Doctor Who. (I suspect that, even if the writers wanted to do such a crossover, they'd be blocked by the fact that Doctor Who is shot in Cardif and Robin Hood was shot in another country, the Czech Republic I think.)

I keep hoping that they'll put that series on DVD here in the United States. I need more Danny John-Jules!

Hungary I believe.

I would speculate that part of why actors left Robin Hood was to do with the fact it didnt shoot in the UK.

As for a Robin Hood / Doctor Who crossover, it seems kinda pointless now that Robin and everyone elsle is dead, but said it would mean that Doctor Who could feature a Robin Hood (just not the Jonas Armstrong Robin Hood) if it wanted to, TBH I am amazed that Doctor Who has not already featured Robin Hood.

Ive been wondeirng if BBC & ITV could combine for one final episode or Robin Hood & Primeval, as a crossover, considering we have already seen a medieval knight on Primeval its not that crazy a suggestion.

correct

as for a Who/Hood crossover, my preference would be to set it in a different continuity where Robin, Marian, Kate, Will, Djaq, Much, Little John, Tuck, Alan and Archer are all alive and together at the same time. with the Sheriff and Guy as villains. and using the same cast.

What, no Roy? Poor guy never gets any respect.

I'd love the Doctor to show up and discover an honest yet belegured Sheriff being bled dry by a band of woodland terrorists led by a man named Robin

Firmly in the "good riddance to rancid shite" camp on this one. That and Primeval.
That's because you suck, you big Welsh bastard.
Nah, I can see where you're coming from with Robin Hood, it is fairly mediocre at its best. But I'd say Primeval at its best was at least as good as the average Stargate episode.
