Battlestar Galactica Movie Back On.

I wasn't really serious you know. Muffit was the silliest part of the original and unless the newest reboot is planned to be camp, I don't think we'll see anything like the original Daggit.

So, given nuBSG's "all of this has happened before, all of this will happen again" shtick, theoretically all three BSG's (original, nu, and this one) could be in the same timeline!

What I'm interested in seeing is the endgame. Do they make it a trilogy where they end up at Earth in movie three or do they do the whole trip in one movie of hardship and military struggle? Or, do they really rehash the wheel and just use the movie to set up yet another series?

It's the 70's all over again, but without the bell bottoms, polyester leisure suits and copious amounts of hair...everywhere.

Or the new movie could be totally retro with all the seventies style and music! The perfect Jack Black vehicle!

I remember back in the nineties the Space channel in Canada had a retro night. The advertisement announcer said something like "Who could've thought the future would look so much...like the seventies!"

Since every big movie is the start of a possible series these days, I doubt it'll tie everything up at the end.

Yeah, I doubt they'll even plan for a trilogy. They'll want to milk it for as long as possible, provided the initial movie is successful enough. I can just imagine them doing a spinoff about the Pegasus at some point, too.

I agree. Besides, Battlestar Galactica was never about the destination--it was always about the journey.

It could also explain why the first Apollo and Tom Zarek look alike. They were both descendants of a common ancestor.

I expect it will fall somewhere between the original show and the revamp in terms of tone. The original is a little too light and cheesy for modern blockbuster films, but it won't be as grim and depressing as Moore's show was, either. I do expect some sense of hopelessness, though, considering that Galactica and the rest of the fleet of ~50,000 people are the surviving remnants of twelve planets with a combined population of at least tens of billions of people.

Basically, I wouldn't expect to see this new Galactica visiting any casino planets any time soon.

Well, we kinda know what's going to happen. The planet and the other colonies get shot up and our heroes make off in a fleet whilst being harried by these tin-cans. BSG to be BSG is pretty mapped out more or less as it is. They made it gritty with the nuBSG - what more can you do with it?

Not that I'm opposed to this project per say. If they think they can make it fresh again, crack on. Just curious as to how they'll do it.
