Battlestar Galactica Movie Back On.

from a link seen elsewhere they are supposedly going to draw more on the original series than the from the re-imaged but can't say that any of the names associated with it are exactly awe inspiring.

I just don't see the market for this. Maybe they'll come up with something good, but I still think it's a longshot that it even gets made.

Looks like the off again on again BSG movie is on again. This time with producers Michael De Luca, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark. So the makers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Ted 2 are making a BSG movie? Yay? I loved the recent series, so not to sure about this.
I'm sure if it has daggit, though, all will be alright.

As long as it's a chimp inside the daggit. No damn CGI daggit.

Given the success of The Force Awakens, I think the market is obvious. There's bound to be renewed interest in space-opera movies now. Whenever a movie is a big success, studios ask themselves, "What do we already own that's similar to this and that we can use to try to copy its success?" In Universal's case, the closest thing they have to Star Wars is Battlestar Galactica.

Heck as Tosk alluded to, it was the success of the original Star Wars that led ABC to finally pick up BSG after Larson had been pitching the idea for a decade or more. So this is history repeating itself.

This one has a little bit about that. Singer's involved though. His historical track record with this property doesn't bode well, but I'm hoping for the best.

I'll always have a soft spot for BSG, both the original show and Moore's reinvigoration.

I've heard rumors of Galactica 1980, but I've been unable to confirm that that ever happened. :shifty: ;)

It's the 70's all over again, but without the bell bottoms, polyester leisure suits and copious amounts of hair...everywhere.

Too true.

Everybody wants a universe or two to compete with Disney's MCU and Star Wars. Universal will go a lot farther going back to the Galactica well than it will rehashing its set of monsters.

Please, please, please, no. The stuff they do to apes to get them to perform for movies, and TV is cruel enough, and stuffing them in a suit like that just adds even more cruelty to it. They already subjected one chimp to that, I'd rather not see them do it again. That's actually the reason I've been hesitant to watch the original.

Hear, hear. Plus there are far better options. You don't need CGI -- animatronics are very advanced these days.

Or, just get a dog and call it a daggit. That's what Muffy was for the first five minutes of his appearance in the pilot.
