Battleship: The Movie!

^ Maybe the creators of Saw can give us a new take on Operation. :)

And Oliver Stone's Chutes and Ladders will be about the economy.

If Battleship is made into a film you know there is gonna be at least one smartass in the audience in every screening who is going to yell out "YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!" :guffaw:

What's worse is that it's likely to be in the actual movie dialog at least once. :barf:

Anyone see the Jean-Claude Van Damme Street Fighter? They incorporated actual costumes and moves from the game. Even Raul Julia said, "Game over." And the final shot of the movie was the characters in a group pose from the game.

C'mon Hollywood!!

How about a Duke Nukem movie ferchrissakes. Chicks, stripclubs, big fucking guns, chicks, Jack Daniels, Harleys, chicks and mutant aliens.

Gold right there, I tell ya!

Our very own RAMA would fit the bill perfectly with some Wayfarers and a blonde buzz cut.

Nudity in the United States of Prudery? They'd censor it so much the strippers will be wearing an abaya and a niqab! You can have as many limbs scattered around the scene as possible but there'll be hell to pay if there's only a single naked breast in sight.

They're making it into a science fiction property? Has Battleship changed that much in the past ten years? I thought we'd get a movie with, you know, naval battles?

My guess is they don't want to risk offending anyone by featuring (presumably) the US Navy fighting the Navy of another country. Of course, they could always make up a fictional country.

first trailer 2:00

I thought this was going to be strictly an action adventure movie but no its a sci-fi action movie!

the plot of the film?
It seems as though an alien force has appeared in the ocean near some U.S. Navy Battleships during a wargames session. None of the alien ships seem to register on any of the battleship’s sensors (thus the blind firing, I guess), then - and this is a guess from the special effect in the trailer - the alien force puts up some kind of force field which traps the US battleship inside with the aliens.
The ships, guided by a surly Liam Neeson and a rebellious Taylor Kitsch, will have to find a way to fend off the aliens blindly from inside their limited field of engagement.

open May 18, 2012.

This trailer really rocks! great naval stuff leading up to the CGI visuals. Then it turns a bit looking like Transformers CGI.
They didn't give too much away though a 1 minute trailer would have been enough.
I am looking forward to this next May on the big screen.

Intriguing. I've always loved Neeson's style, and he made Phantom Menace watchable for me. This might actually not be too bad.
