Battleship: The Movie!

Okay, so I read this article, and... I can't bring myself to believe any of it is true. Movies based on board games? Seriously, what the fuck?

Reading my mind again, I see...

You know, considering that they turned Rubik's Cube into a Saturday morning cartoon, none of this should come as a surprise -- even turning Asteroids into a movie.

Link to this Rubik's Cube cartoon?

I can see Asteroids becoming a movie. It starts as a small craft clearing asteroids for navigation and quickly escalates into a cat-and-mouse, TWOK-style battle between our heroes and some evil/unidentified Alien saucers. That premise could work.

I am still waiting for Pac-Man the movie. It could be about a drug addict who is always taking little white pills, and hallucinates that ghost are after him.

That premise could also work.

If any boardgame is begging to be made into a Tim Burton movie, it needs to be Candyland.

Well, that would be one way to give the kids nightmares...

Tim Burton will make a dark and demented Candy Land.

Michael Bay will make a balls-to-the-wall nonstop action Axis & Allies.

The makers of Saw bring you... Operation.

Jim Carrey brings you more physical comedy in... Guesstures.

Ridley Scott makes yet another period piece war epic.... Stratego.

Pixar's latest money-printing release... Mouse Trap.

Nicolas Cage deciphers hidden words that are clues to a much bigger picture in... Scrabble.

Sure, do all of Hollyweird's work for them why don't you? :shifty:

look what I found

I almost did not believe it to be true until I saw it.

looking at some of the linked videos, you dont see saturday morning cartoons of primetime TV shows anymore. no Friends:TAS, no CSI:TAS, ok they did one for Doctor Who (a short one) I think the latest one I recall is was Star Gate & Sabrina.

^ Along with Rubik, back then they turned the video games Turbo and Pole Position into cartoons. Racing games with no characters or plots!

I remember seeing the Pole Position thing on the internet somewhere years ago...

I miss the old SEGA game, Turbo. That game was awesome back in the day.

My Pac-Man is about a fruit-snacking cop chasing down a drug syndicate that they call Ghosts because no one seems to know anything about them. But then he gets addicted to the very drug he's trying to take off the streets.

I was going to say they should do a movie based on the game "Atmosfear"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosfear_(series)

however it appears they did try and do a TV series

for the movie I would do a group of people trapped in a magical realm, trying to escape, before the Gate Keeper kills them, by method of there greatest fear.

that said its been over 10 years since I played the game, dont think I have it anymore.

I want to see Woody Allen Direct and Star in a Monopoly movie. Allen plays a Jewish bussinessman who goes from rags to riches to rags again, all whille being involved with some romantic subplot.

I could see it anyway.

Of course while halucinating on a bad trip at one point he see his fruit snacks go bouncing down the hall.

And new in adult entertainment... Jenna Jamison in Connect Four!

Considering eve the movie rights to Asteroids were sold a few weeks ago I´m not that surprised.

Back in Sept it was reported that Universal Pictures is doing a live-action pic based on Hasbro's naval combat board game "Battleship" with Peter Berg at the helm.

Universal already has a set date to release the film on August 5, 2011.

...he didn't say anything or give any details about the enemy.

THAT WAS TILL NOW.
A source has confirmed with me that the enemies will be ALIENS!

Production on "Battleship" will begin next spring.
