Battery low

I found my car battery discharged today... :(

There was a cabin light left on and naturally my battery died on me. It was either left on by me on Friday or my father on Saturday. Either way, it was the first time in months that my car was left there unused for 4 days in a row so that noone saw the light sooner.

On the bright side, the reason I went to check on my car was that my neighbor told me to go take a look because the kids from the nearby school were throwing rocks. And luckily, my car is fine. The car next to mine though has a number of rocks on it, about 7cm long.

This is so creepy, You're like the 8th person in 2 weeks I've known who has had their car battery go dead.

I'm getting paranoid, I think I'm going to buy a new set of jumper cables tomorrow.

^ Hey, at least I'm not alone! :p

I'm waiting for a friend to come by at noon with cables. I hope the battery will recharge and everything else will work just fine (windows, immobilizer etc) *crosses fingers*

I have a battery charger at home. It's nice for occassions like this. It'll either jump start the car or just charge the battery for you (takes an hour for a full charge). Very handy all around.

My mother's car used to always drain for no apparent reason if it wasn't driven every day. For a time we got a battery that disconnected itself when it detected a drain, and that worked great for a time; but then the battery got recalled (too many people couldn't figure out how to reactivate it, maybe). We kept it anyway, but one time when we sent the car in for service they swapped the battery due to the recall anyway.

We eventually got a trickle-charger that we plug in whenever it's going to be sitting for a while. It's not enough when the thing does completely die, but it prevents that from happening most of the time.

It didn't drain for no apparent reason. There was something improperly grounding, which caused the drain.

Probably; but despite many services, the source was never identified. Hence, the reason was not apparent.

Well, my battery is fine but the car is not. After closer inspection I found two bumps on the top and plenty of scratches on the hood from the rocks that were thrown.

People randomly throwing rocks at cars... that is just mean.

They have nothing better to do with their time.

Glad to hear that your battery is fine. As for your car, i'm sorry. I know how asshole-ish people can be. I was once gonna go out and take a friend of mine to a follow up at the hospital, and i looked at my car, and some douchebag egged it. I was pissed. Thankfully, no paint damage.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car. Those kids should have some rocks thrown at them.
