In the talk about how the DCCU needs to change its style, I look to the Transformers franchise:
TF1 $710M. TF2 $836M. TF3 $1.12B. TF4 $1.10B.
TF1 57% RT. TF2 19%. TF3 35%. TF4 18%.
Now, TF2 was critically and internet-ally reviled. Did they change anything for 3? Not really. And look how much more it made. TF4 was even more reviled than 2, but it did just a smidge less than its predecessor. And they're not changing #$%. They're actually doubling down with an entire new franchise of movies and spin-offs. Money talks. :ouch:
And according to the logic of some people, because those crap films make money, everyone should love them and defend them at all cost, no matter how horrible or poorly written they are. Because if the movie makes money, that somehow means it's the most anazing thing ever, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete idiot.

I don't think anyone involved would want DCEU to follow Transformers reception even if it does keep making Transformers kind of money.
Hopefully it will pull a Fast & Furious franchise which most critics pooped upon for the first several installments, but managed to turn it around in the later ones. ;)

Remember when BirthMoviesDeath reported that Suicide Squad was going to do reshoots so it wouldn't be as dark as Bvs?

When Devin Faraci reported that he spoke with an "excellent source" that said "Every joke in the movie is in that trailer"?

It's all right here:

Aside from the obvious fact that you don't make reshoots just happen that fast, and with the release of the newest Suicide Squad trailer, this was all completely fabricated and shows the unfortunate lengths people will go to when talking about this movie.

Devin Faraci once went on Twitter and said that all anime is for pedophiles, blocked anyone who disagreed with him, and later compared the incident to being a victim of domestic abuse, so...

I'm not bothered by the darker tone but I prefer the more whimsical approach - I enjoy Batman Forever.

I'm glad Suicide Squad is going for dark humor.

Sounds like an average day for him. Being a jackass doesn't mean someone is wrong, it just so happens that he's also massively unreliable in addition to being a jackass.

[Edited to make it clearer that I'm not directly comparing BF & SS]

I think Warner Bros. should have doubled down on this movie and released it in its 3+ hour length and put an intermission in. I know a shorter movie means more showings per day for the theater, but they could have played the long game for this thing. They wouldn't win the critics who said it was too long anyway and those that liked the movie would have gotten a little more.

Except for one thing. Snyder is using this as an excuse for why Superman can't just go find Martha himself...even though he does keep tabs on these things at other times, otherwise Lois would be dead three times over. So it's good enough for Lois, but not Martha.

No, that's not the reason Superman can't just go find Martha himself. Did you even watch the film?

And let's not forget the Into Darkness shenanigans either...

Basically, Faraci gets incredibly bent out of shape when a movie doesn't conform to his exact vision of what he wants it to be, and at that point he refuses to engage with its actual content on any level, instead ranting about how it's all "wrong" or whatever and projecting anything he wants (hence the "Man of Murder" crap he still pulls out several years after the release of Man of Steel, and steadfastly blocking people who point out that Superman killing Zod isn't exactly a unique invention on Snyder's part).

I mean, don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed the heck out of Beavis and yet still have a number of complaints with the film, but there's a difference between having complaints with a movie and pulling shit out of your ass in histrionic fashion in order to draw clicks.

FF became an ansamble series with a particular charm. People and critics started caring about the "gang" (or the "familia", as Dom Toretto calls it). And there really was no "gang" prior to Fast 5. Before that FF was about fast cars and explosions. And in all seriousness, it kinda sucked.

^^
Even people who hated the movie agree that WW and Batman were great.
So if nothing else at least the warming up part worked... :nyah:

I didn't hate the movie, I liked Batfleck, was completely indifferent towards WW, but can't stand the idea of Ezra Miller playing the Flash. Also, fuck Khal Drogo and fuck Cyborg. JLA without the Martian Manhunter is doomed to fail.

Yes, I did watch the film. Here's Snyder's quote again...

"We had a scene that we cut from the movie where he tries to look for her when he finds out that Lex has got her. It was a slightly dark scene that we cut out because it sort of represented this dark side. Because when he was looking for his mom he heard all the cries of all the potential crimes going on in the city, you know when you look. [...] I kind of like the idea that he’s taught himself not to look because if he looks it’s just neverending, right? You have to know when, as Superman, when to intervene and when not to. Or not when not to, you can’t be everywhere at once, literally you can’t be everywhere at once, so he has to be really selective in a weird way about where he chooses to interfere."

So what was the reason in the finished film that Superman couldn't go find Martha?

BO news. BvS actually out sold The Boss on Sunday but finished about $200,000 behind it for the weekend. It fell only 54% in it's third week.

Looking ahead. BvS has a decent chance to beat Deadpool's domestic take of $358 million. It should be at around $320-325 million by next Monday.

There was a time when movies used to stay in the theatres for months.
Not anymore. It's all front-loaded. The higher grossing movies still can stay out for 3-4 months, it's just that the grosses fall drastically for fresh stimulation. Earlier bluray releasing and pirating also contribute to the shorter release times.
