As Wonder Woman, I honestly can't remember if she actually spoke a single word. Anyone remember?
This is why I'm so curious about Monday.Friday was a holiday without a lot to do around it. Sunday was a holiday where most people have other engagements.
WW said something like "I've killed things from other worlds before", among other things. And the truth is, Gal Gadot just shined. She was a beacon of light in an overly dour movie, and frankly her small part (though bigger than you're letting on) is what kept the movie from crashing under it's own weight.I mean, I get that it's important that the character finally appeared on screen, just questioning what seems like gushing over what was a very minor role. Things to the effect of the movie getting a B-, but wonder woman's contribution brought it up to A-.
As Diana, she looked great in a dress, no question. And she had a couple fun/flirty/spy vs. spy moments with Bruce, but that was kinda the entire role. Wasn't counting, but if I said she had 10 lines of dialog, you'd have to admit I was in the ballpark, no?
As Wonder Woman, I honestly can't remember if she actually spoke a single word. Anyone remember? I think she just stood in front of the wind machine to get perfect flowing hair, and screamed when she jumped at Doomsday.
I'm glad she was in the movie, and definitely good that she's getting her own movie. And that it's ahead of the JL mashup. Just feel it's more than a stretch to say her role in any way saved the movie, or even elevated it much. She had an extended cameo, really. I LIKED what she brought as Diana, just wish there was more of it.
Aquaman had as many lines as Wonder Woman, and within 2 minutes of the same screen time.![]()
I agree that critics have been over zealous in their hate of this movie, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a stinker of a film. It's bad.
Holly Hunter has been sounding like that for a little longer than Jodie Foster has....every time Senator Finch opened her mouth I thought "why not just cast Jody Foster?" if she's going to try and sound like her that much.
I thought during the entire movie that Eisenberg was Lex Luther's son, not Lex himself - but then I read IMDB and the character's name is "Lex Luthor". I guess I've never heard Lex refer to his father before. They certainly did that a bunch in this film.
I was against the casting of Gal Gadot but I think she did fine. I still think Gina Carano would have been more "amazon" and fit the role better. I wasn't aware Wonder Woman had a sword.
The same Director who didn't understand the characters in 'Watchmen' either.

The movie is dumb, but takes itself seriously.
Sitting through the whole thing feels like a chore.
I'd give the cinematography an A or an A+. My issue was with the editing. Now was it a masterpiece of cinematography? No, not by any stretch of the imagination.
These movies have done a great job of capturing the characters' look from the comics so I expect the same from Darkseid.Darkseid should look as close to his comic book likeness as possible IMO.
I had no issue with Superman. He was every bit the superhero that he's supposed to be. As for Batman, the only problem I saw was his level of anger. Aside from those moments, he was true to form.So people who have a lot of investment in Superman, Batman, and their world tend to feel that the movie got them very wrong.
You know, they could go that route if they wanted to. Eisenberg doesn't seem to be too popular. What if he doesn't want to come back?I'm hoping that as Eisenberg is Lex Jr., fairly soon, Lex Sr. will be attempting to avenge Jr's passing.
I really liked 'Returns'. I'd hoped for more...For truly boring Superman, try Supes' RETURNS.
Is it really Snyder's choice to have his movies in March or the studio doesn't believe his type of movies don't fit appropriately for a summer audience? Which might fair worse. Not so for me. I preferred it to MAN OF STEEL, which did have a slow first half. For truly boring Superman, try Supes' RETURNS.
Some major critics are slamming DAWN OF JUSTICE for being too heavy and too un-fun, unlike Marvel's approach. Why is DC studios obligated to be more like Marvel? Why is imitation an asset? You're already getting another universe here. Maybe the critics felt stiffed at not seeing a post-credit scene of Aquaman swallowing fish.
That being said, I like Singer's habit of opening event films in March, such as WATCHMEN. It's still not a summer movie, despite the high grosses.

To be fair, I don't really see the critics arguing for the movie to be as light and jokey as the Marvel movies. They just wanted something that wasn't so continuously dark and grim and ultra-serious... and I frankly have to agree. Even as dark as Nolan's TDK got at times, it still never felt to me nearly as continuously heavy and oppressive as BvS did.
