Batman: Arkham Knight: Same Bat-Game, Same Bat-Developer!

It's more of a response to how vague the previous announcement was. I'm sure these things were always planned, but now we have a better idea of what the $40 is actually going to buy.

I'm personally very excited. I was hoping there would be continuing DLC stories after the main game came out. They've built this giant gaming world; they should continue to use it for a while. Even if they're just little 3-4hour adventures, I would love to see them continuing release new content, even if they have to shop it out to a different company (WB Montreal did a decent job with Origins and Cold, Cold, Heart).

They just released more information about the Season Pass, since I guess fans weren't happy with the previous announcement.

I'll be honest. For me, this seems totally worth the extra money.

Being able to play as Batgirl might just be the thing that drives my first day one purchase of the Arkham franchise.

An old friend of the board would like us to know why Batman deserves to be lonely...

I pre-ordered it at GameStop to get the bonus Harley Quinn and Red Hood stuff.

I also pre-ordered a second copy along with a new PS4 for my roommate. He has recently had to deal with some medical things and no longer has the extra money that he was planning to use to buy a PS4. We were both very much looking forward to this game (we've always gone out on release day and picked up our copies together), so I couldn't sit by and get one for myself without him being able to play! It'll be waiting for him when he gets home from work that day, so I hope he enjoys the surprise!

A very cool gesture there. I'm sure your roomie will be thrilled. :)

I too pre-ordered to get the Harley Quinn story pack, but I went ahead and got the Premium pack (PS4) which comes with all the content for the pre-order as well as the season pass. Harley Quinn is just so psychopathically sexy. I hope they have the original voice actress reprising her vocal role. One of the things I loved about Harley was her "1950's screwball comedy" styled voice.

Not long ago, I had forsworn pre-orders because of Aliens: Colonial Marines (although that is a game I do enjoy, it was far from what it could've/should've been....fuck you, Gearbox.) The Last of Us (Naughty Dog) on PS3 made me break that particular vow, and I was not disappointed.

I am definitely looking forward to Arkham Knight in just a few days.

It's Tara Strong, who took over the role in City.

As I recall then, she did a pretty good job of it. I guess I didn't notice much of a difference to call out my attention to it. :)

Yeah, that "1950's screwball comedy" voice is, to me, what really sells Harley.... aside from her obvious physical niceties. :D

My two favorite costumes for Harley Quinn are the one she wore in Arkham Asylum and her current one, Roller Derby styled Harley. :)

I've got the game preordered from GameStop, too, just for the store exclusive extras.

Just gotta get an Xbox One at some point...

Word is that the PC port -- rumored to have been handled by Iron Galaxy -- is badly broken, so I would hold off buying this on Steam for the time being.

Well using the Batmobile is as much of a pain in the ass as I thought it would be, who makes a vehicle mode where the vehicle can't turn worth a shit and then has you do stuff that requires it to turn well.

Just picked up my preorder for the Xbone, downloading everything now.

Apparently the Harley Quinn DLC is a prequel to AK proper, so I'll be playing that first.

That's disappointing. :(

ETA: Just finished the Harley Quinn DLC story. Didn't take long, maybe 15-20 minutes. She was kind of fun to play as, once I got used to all of the controls again.

I know he's supposed to be beatable, but I would think they would have made Nightwing at least a little more formidable. He was pretty much a pushover here.

Well so far the Batmoblie's turning problem is only a pain in the Riddler challenges everywhere else it's still doable since it doesn't require you to navigate a pain in the ass course within a time limit.

And really the only down side to the Batmoblie is the inability to make sharp turns out of combat mode.

Other then that so far it's a fun game.

I have gotten better at driving the Batmobile the more I play. I think the biggest problem is trying to control it too much; I end up overcompensating for turns and find myself slamming into walls or falling into the river.

The attempted the first Riddler track and completely failed and gave up. Later in the story you are prompted to do it again, and I was a lot more successful. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

As for the game itself, I found the beginning very awkward. You're pretty much dumped right into the middle of Gotham and expected to go. Maybe it's just me, but I was expecting a slower introduction. I'm not really complaining, though. It just felt odd.

That said, now that I'm maybe 6 hours or so into the game, I am enjoying the hell out of it. There are side missions all over the place, and I am actually finding myself motivated to do them. Normally I just save all that stuff for the end, but this time I'm trying to extend the gameplay as much as possible.
