Batman: Arkham Asylum IS AWESOME, buy it now

So does anyone who has the PC version have any recommendations about the controls? As I've said upthread I'm not sure about being able to play with mouse and keyboard and adding a controller as well would be an added expense. I do BADLY want the game though...

Personally I already own a Windows Xbox360 controller, so no trouble there. I'd highly recommend getting one, I originally only bought it because I have a lot of old console emulators and it seamed to do the job plus it turned out to be a surprisingly good joystick substitute for some of my old flight simulator type games (X-Wing, Crimson Skies, etc) and then I went and got two of the newer Tomb Raider games, which suited it perfectly.
Still can't get the hang of FPSs with the pad though, I'm sticking to the old mouse & keyboard for that. ;)

Yeah I feel like a bit of a fool - I hadn't realised that the PC version was coming out SO much later. I'm definitely tempted by the 360 controller, although playing FPSs on it is NEVER going to be a good idea. My problem had stemmed from the fact that the demo doesn't let you rebind the keys.

Well, you can get a third party wired controller and it should work just same but be a bit cheaper.

Well I finally got the game yesterday... spent about three hours playing it and I gotta say it totally kicks ass.

Just finished the story mode today on Medium, with 70% complete.

Tomorrow, I'ma make the Riddler my bitch.

I can't wait for the sequel -- Batman: Wayne Manor.

It takes place entirely at Wayne Manor and you play as Bruce Wayne throwing a party. You've got to keep the kitchen happy to keep the food coming, hide the hookers and drugs when the cops show up, wheel and deal with the big wigs to maintain successful business ventures, and try to bed every supermodel at the party.

Pretty sure it's the "Dem Bones" challenge room that was available from the Gamestop pre-orders. They said it would be released as free DLC a few weeks later.

WOW , what a great game, just reached the bit where i can now hack and open those electric fence doors....what a great games and I'm hooked on finding all the ? and secrets....oh and the main game is great as well.

I haven't spending a lot of time on the riddles, (primarily for the longest time I didn't really know WHAT to do to solve them). But occaisonally I stumble across one and will go and ahead and do it. I have one those that I'm apparently not doing right and the FAQ is not helping. So a plea goes out to those of you who've solved this one.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS

The one I'm having trouble with is in the Arkham Mansion, and it has to do with the bird and the rain. I've found the question mark using detective vision and I know from reading a FAQ that I'm supposed to grapple up across the room from the question mark and then turn around and look back down at the question mark. I've done that and it's saying solution not aligned. I know I'm supposed to be seeing an umbrella in the display case and I'm not seeing that. Any suggestions?

That sounds like two separate riddles.

The display will be on ground level and you will need to stand in front of it then scan it.

For the ? riddle you need to line the dot up with the rest of the question mark.

Well I've scanned the display case every which way I can think of and nothing happens.

As for lining up the dot, I'm not sure what you mean.

There are alot of riddles that consist of finding hidden question marks.

You can only see them in detective mode.

The dot at the bottom of the question mark is separate from the curved part. You have to stand a t a specific angle to see the two parts form a complete ? then you have to scan it.

Does that make sense?

These faqs can be helpful:

Well yeah it makes sense. I just can't seem to get it to work. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a glitch or something because I'm doing exactly what you're saying it's not giving me a solution. I see the question mark, I see the dot. I scan it and the best I can get is "Solution partially aligned" or something to that effect.

As for the umbrella, it's just not there that I can find and all the FAQS indicate it should be.

Incidentally, I misspoke in my prior post. I understood what you meant, what I should have said, is that I don't understand how to get it to line up. Sorry for the confusion.

Man, this games has legs. It should be a note to game designers, if you make your gameplay fun, your game won't have to be 30 hours long in the story to get that much time out of it from the player. I've spent so much time in the challenge rooms and have now just started a new story on normal (so that I can really stomp on everyone). I have easily put in 40 hours into this game since release and I will probably put in another 20.

Since you're just starting a new game, pay closer attention to the dialog. There are a lot of references to the comics and a couple of bits are word for word lifted from "The Killing Joke"

The question marks have to be aligned just right. From the right vantage point to how you look at. Rotate around to make the dot's in the right spot.

If you think that question mark is hard, just wait till the one in the one room in the Botanical Area.

A friend of mine has this game and he loves it... I got a chance to see it myself while he was playing it... and it was DEFINITELY worth the buy. The graphics are very realistic and the gameplay (for the most part) seems to be pretty fluid. Not too much in the way of bugs or anything. A good game.

Yeah i spent about 30min on that one alone, eventually gave up, tired it on the ground, on top of the case, up high on the vents, even standing on the electrical fans above it.....i will come back to it at some point.

Fantastic game though.

Well here's the deal, the FAQ led me to erroneously believe that the umbrella was next to the question mark. It is not. If you're facing the question mark, do a 180 and go to a display case to your left a few feet away and the umbrella is in there.

And I finally got the question mark to line up, this was the first one of those I encountered and I just didn't quite understand it. So I got both of them now. Thanks to all who lent a hand.
