Batman: Arkham Asylum IS AWESOME, buy it now

Been playing it for about a week now and I think it's a great game. As for the gameplay, I don't know which I like more the fluid combat system or the cool stealth tactics. Think I have to go with the stealth side of it, watching the thugs begin to panic is a guilty pleasure.

Special kudos has to be given for the scarecrow scenes, they were seriously creepy. Wonderfully done.

^ From what I've read, a lot of people are doing just that (returning their games).

That's a real shame if it's widespread. The game is awesome, it would be a pity if it's losing players simply from it trying to be clever (unless they are getting replacements). Probably also one of the best scenes in the game.

^ Well you know how the internet is (or can be), a couple of people have a problem and it's "widespread".

And yeah, the stealth part of the game is definitely my favourite. Taking thugs out one by one while creeping out the others is just so much fun.

This comes from somebody who generally pretty much hates stealth games, but that has easily become my favorite part of the game. I'd much rather do that than the endless fights with dozens of thugs.

^

stealth is aweomse. I had my first gripe with the game which is the killer croc scene levels. Boring!!!!

I'm feeling that way now with the next to last boss battle. It's a repeat of an earlier boss fight with extra henchmen added in. And of course, suckass me is struggling with it. And I can't disengage and go back and work on riddles, I'm stuck with it. :(

stealth is aweomse.

In this game it is. I think one of the reasons I'm liking it so much is that it's not as tedious as most stealth games I've played. They give you a little margin for error, you can actually move around at something approaching normal speed and often not be spotted. Most stealth games you have to creep around like a snail and it's just so tedious and boring.

That's often a problem I have with stealth games, as well. I've wanted to like so many of them because I find the concept of it amazingly fun ... but a lot of the times, I just end up frustrated.

Yeah, there's nothing like flying around through the air with a loud grappling hook and not having anyone see you. :p

I also panicked at the transition into the first Scarecrow level =P

Those sections were bloody brilliant, though - particularly the one in which you get to be young Bruce for a bit - great stuff!

Details of Thursday's DLC pack, "Insane Night"...

"In the 'Totally Insane' FreeFlow Combat map, players will be tested to their fullest as scores of escaped lunatics bear down upon Batman as they make their escape through the asylum's secure records facility," says Eidos. "These fast-moving foes will challenge all but the most practiced players, with quick reactions and expert timing needed to fend off wave upon wave of insane inmates, bent on taking down the Dark Knight.

"In the 'Nocturnal Hunter' Invisible Predator map, players take on a wholly different approach, practicing their predatory skills to remain in the shadows, utilizing the Arkham watchtowers and Batman's arsenal of gadgets to gain the upper hand on The Joker's army of goons patrolling below."

For anyone waiting for the PC version (which may only be me at this point :p) it's finally out tomorrow.

I usually just take my gun out and shoot everybody.

I got it yesterday for PC and it's great. You really feel like you're Batman. Everything is really well put together in the game.

Completed it about an hour ago...

It was great, such an enjoyable game and hopefully the 1st of many new Batman games to come. Hardest boss or most annoying was Ivy and the finale was maybe a little easier than I expected.

Doing all of the extra stuff now (75% at moment).

Not quite enough to join my 9.0 club...8.5 score ;) (a great score coming from me)

I finally beat the final boss last night and then went on to solve a bunch of riddles and find trophies. Seems like I made a lot of progress but it still says I'm only 77% complete. I'm not one to ever go for 100% on game, I usually get bored before I get there, but I thought I might actually try it on this game.

Does anyone know if the completing the "challenge rooms" is required for 100% completion?

Hmm, well that knocks out the 100% idea then. I have no desire to go through the challenge rooms. The "predator" ones might be fun but the ones where you're slugging it out with the thugs is the least fun part of this game for me. I'll pass on those.

Oh well, it's not like you win money or anything for getting a 100%. Still having fun tracking down the riddles and trophies.

^ Just for some extra info, simply beating the combat challenges isn't enough. You actually need to get the required score indicated by three batarangs.
