Bat Suit Dropped

...I know there WAS a thread about it.

DC this summer sued a guy for infringement for his resin likeness of Batman.

They've dropped the suit.

They had asked for a TON of money, but I think it's pretty clear, they wanted the guy to just stop selling the product--which he's stopped.

Is there any indication that the items will be sold via DC Direct? Which would kind-of be a "win-win" for both parties. i.e. he still gets to sell these things but ends up paying a royalty (hopefully not too much) to DC.

Looking at the picture on the website, the product looks kinda crappy.
DC probably has better, and cheaper, ways of manufacturing products--they don't need this guy.

I remember this...this was the guy saying he wasn't making Batman statues. Rather, he was making statues of Adam West in his Batman costume. How this guy didn't think any litigation was ever going to come to him is amazing.

I'm not surprised the suit was dropped. I argued at the time that it was more of a threat on DC's part in order for him to stop and that if it did go to court, the damages DC was looking for would have been reduced dramatically.

Bat Suit Dropped? What's Batman going to wear now?

Good move by DC, they at least didn't have to ruin this guy's life over it.

He didn't consider the possibility that West might sue himself?:wtf:

I was going to post something about Matthew McConaughey taking over the role of Batman, but your post deflated it. :(

If I remember correctly, allegedly, West gave his consent.

Then again, if he didn't, is West enough of a public figure where likeness rights won't apply?
