Barash from Future Imperfect

I think it was Diplomatic Implausability.

As for the Alexander thing, I missed that as well. In fact, realizing I missed that has made me decide to reread it to see if there were any other tid bits like that I missed first time around. Well, that and because it's one of my favorite books, and I've still only read it once.

Good to see that someone did a bit of a follow-up with Barash. Maybe I'll check out the novel, and read the whole thing.

Has Leah Brahms ever surface in any of the newer stuff? Does Geordi still have a boner for her?

12 years on and just watched this episode for the first time and couldn’t believe he’d just be gone. Glad to hear the novels gave some closure and made me think it’s time I delved into them.

If anyone can recommend a good starting point for any literature I’d much appreciate it.

If you like Deep Space Nine, I highly recommend the Deep Space Nine relaunch. It starts off a few months after "What You Leave Behind" and does a great job of introducing new characters, as well as continuing the stories of the remaining cast. The first four novels are collected in an omnibus called Twist of Faith, which is currently available for a buck as eBook. So if you're in the US, read eBooks and are interested in DS9 this is a great deal.

Otherwise, I can recommend Star Trek: Vanguard, which is about a starbase near Tholian and Klingon space, featuring ancient secrets, intrigue, spies and a surprising amount of civilians. It starts with the novel Harbinger, and from there you can just read the other seven books in that order.

Liking DS9 would be an understatement so thank you. Not in the US but will track it down as I’ve wondered for a while what a good entry point would be but hadn’t yet sought one out. My thanks.

One other important tidbit of information about Vanguard, it's set at the same time as TOS and runs parallel with some of the episode. It also has some connection to the TOS movies, which makes it a nice little bridge between them and the TV series.
