Agreed. Not seeing eye to eye? That's common in fandoms, but the utter degradation of someone due to their enjoyment of a film, that's hard to connect with.I think that's what irks me the most, as well. It's one thing to dislike something and to ask questions, and something else entirely to go where those fans are and just constantly slam their favorite movie/TV show/comic book. To me that takes a hateful, petty spirit.
That irks me as well. I have heard many arguments and discussion points against Abrams Trek, some well founded, others a matter of personal taste. My struggle will always be the hatred that is expressed because I feel like no meaningful discussion can happen after that. Not saying that it won't happen, but it just feels very limited in a dialogue.
