Bad encounters with cast members

I've heard reports from two of my female friends about Mr Keating. He got quite hands-y during a party at a convention last year but she did accidentally punch him on the nose while dancing to Star Trekkin'. My other friend claimed he got quite rude to her 4 year old son.

He was hands-y at the VIP reception. Being rude to a 4 year old kid is just sad.

John Billingsley was hung over a couple weeks ago when I saw him, he said he spent the night before drinking with fans who paid for his dinner at a restaurant instead of approaching him during his meal. He was quite friendly and chatty.

This doesn't sound like a bad encounter, this sounds like the best encounter.

I had an awkward encounter with Jonathan Frakes at a signing which I made awkward -- had nothing to do with Frakes. It actually ended up being a funny interaction that my girlfriend and I still reference. This is a rough approximation of the conversation we had with Frakes:

Frakes: Who do I make it out to?
Me: Johnnie and Hannah.
Frakes: Or Hannah and Johnnie?
Me: (nervous laughter) Yeah that's better.
Frakes: I got your back, man.
Hannah: (genuine laughter)
Me: (nervous) I just want to say how much I admire your char---
Frakes: Hannah is spelled H-a-n-n-a-h?
Hannah: Yep!
Frakes: Your name is a palindrome.
Hannah: It is!
Frakes: I love palindromes. How is your name spelled?
Me: J-o-h-n-n-i-e.
Frakes: (pause) That's not a palindrome.

For those who spent the night drinking with him, yeah :)

I've never had a bad encounter. I've had some encounters which were purely professional exchanges with people who were just doing a job for money and that's fine. I can respect that.

I've had some encounters with people who love (or, perhaps, are acting as if they love) meeting fans and go out of their way to give you a positive experience.

I've even had a couple encounters where, due to boredom on their part sometimes when they have no lines, or due to my wife and her service dog other times, the actors were more interested in us than the other way around, sometimes asking for pictures themselves.

Fingers crossed I'll never have a bad one. Have a few more planned for a con in July. Then that's it this year, not like last year where I went to twice as many cons.

Fabreeze will cut down the stench, but it won't get the dirt and grime out. :barf2:
Yeah, I wouldn't be wearing that shirt around much at all. And if I would, I'd be sure to have a very thick t-shirt underneath, or two thin ones. This way you don't transfer any oils or aromas to it. After a CON, off it goes in a special garment bag with full support, and a dryer sheet to keep it fresh smelling.

Btw, great avatar. Nice tribute to Spock... no longer with us, empty chair.
