I think JMS said more films if it does well.
Is this new series going to be on Max? Just saw the trailer and it was pretty decent. Some of the dialouge was a little corny, but it still felt in the spirit of Babylon 5.

Well, I'm excited. 4K disc release, always a plus (it'd be nice if this at least did well enough to earn a print-on-demand pressing on "The Lost Tales" in Blu-Ray).
I was suspecting from yesterday's snippet that we'd be revisiting the alternate future from "Babylon Squared"/"War Without End," and that seems confirmed. Also looks like I called it that it was David Sheridan Senior, in the cast list, I'm glad for that, Papa Sheridan was always a good time and had an outsized influence on the show considering he only appeared three-and-a-half times (though reading JMS's biography adds an interesting wrinkle to Babylon 5 having such overt Good Dad energy. Even the Bad Dads we heard about were alright, just not great).
Also interesting, I caught a glimpse of Marcus in there, and the scenes we saw suggested there might be some other notable omissions from the cast/character list that was released before (or a bunch of people just don't talk when they make their budget-friendly visual cameos).

Hopefully Marcus does play a role in it even though we know Jason Carter won't be voicing him (his reps confirmed that awhile ago on Facebook).
Another glaring omission from the initial cast list: Vir and Zack! No sign of either of them here but we didn't see Lochley either and we know she'll be in it. Fingers crossed!
From the stills I saw I wasn't totally feeling the animation... but from the trailer and seeing it in action and moving I think it looks pretty good. Obviously the choices for the voices needed to replace actors who are no longer with us will be of great importance though.
I spotted Lochley a couple of times. Definitely at the beginning, during the animated version of the "Objects at Rest" goodbye scenes, and she's also standing next to Zathras at the end of the trailer.

It is nice to see Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy and Patricia Tallman voicing the characters that they originally played on screen.
It is so sad that not all of the original cast are around to play themselves in this animated movie. So many of them have passed away.

I absolutely love Babylon 5 and couldn't get enough back when I first experienced it with the DVD releases (I probably talked as much about it on these forums as I did Trek back in the day). I watched the series through more times than any other. However, I can't help but feel a little bit "meh" about this project... It looks like it's essentially Sheridan hopping around to a bunch of alternate universes and timelines, some of which we've seen before, that likely don't really matter and with probably very little impact on the events of the "prime" universe. I'm sure there will be some decent nostalgia despite the fact that most of the cast is dead... But I don't know if it's going to generate the same feels for me that the series did. Anyone else feel the same? Hopefully I'm surprised.
On a related note, anyone know if Chris Franke is back for the music? Definitely one of the best parts of the show.

No. Kristopher Carter (Batman Beyond), Michael McCuiston (Spectacular Spider-Man) and Lolita Ritmanis (Avengers Assemble, a lot of animated DC stuff) are handling the music.
Because Franke is semi-retired in Germany and was already occupied with a different project.

Of all the vocal replacements that are going on here, I'd say whoever is doing Sinclair pretty much nailed it. It's looks OK overall, but I'd by lying if I said I was 100% sold. Mostly I'm curious how much (if any) traction this will get with a new audience, not just the same old ageing fanbase.
Not sure how I feel about Shadows seemingly acting as foot soldiers, and getting offed relatively easily. I mean the show did pretty much imply that they're physically weaker that say a Vorlon, but at the same time a handful of them were enough to murder a Vorlon to death. Feels inconsistent, but that's not a problem with this animated movie, just an oddity inherited from the show. It just feels weird actually seeing it whereas before it was always more implied, even when Londo had two of them gunned down. The bodies always just stayed invisible.

Babylon 5 had a few memorable characters, but it wasn't a character-driven show. It was basically one big plot engine (a great machine, if you prefer) designed to tell one big story. And that story, the biggest story in the lives of the show's characters, is over. Everything else is a footnote, by design, because the original goal was to tell that one story, not start some "deep space franchise."
The trailer was beyond anything I could have imagined. I cannot wait to watch the film when it comes out.
Mmmm...IIRC, based on the third Techno-mage novel there's some evidence that Kosh didn't fight as hard as he could have, partly because he was intent on giving Sheridan one last 'helping hand' (as evidenced in later episodes), and partly because he knew that his life was the price to be paid for the Vorlons' intervention in "Interludes and Examinations" and that if he didn't let himself die then there would be worse consequences.
