I actually though SAAAB's finale worked fine as a finale, rather than a cliffhanger (not unlike Serenity, or for that matter Angel). Without spoilers, by the end, the main character has been so changed by his experiences that when he finally gets something that he's wanted from the beginning so much that it defined his course for him, it practically doesn't even register. That's a perfect ending for a war story.

I found the end frustating, I loved that show growing up.

I suppose Disney owns it now too. Which of the Fox's shows, if you had to pick one has better chances of being revived on Disney+? S:AAB or Firefly?

I don't know if I've posted about this before? There's a seller on Ebay who's selling Production Designer John Iacovelli's collection. The seller's just listed some cool (and very overpriced) stuff: The Sinclair Aircraft wall hanging from Sinclair's office, an ISN logo and a Babylon 4 panel. All of the items are interesting but I'm sorry to say that when something's reasonably priced, it seems more by accident than design. There are great memos from Crusade regarding worldbuilding and other production documents, too. Fun window shopping if nothing else.

I don't know if I've posted about this before? There's a seller on Ebay who's selling Production Designer John Iacovelli's collection. The seller's just listed some cool (and very overpriced) stuff: The Sinclair Aircraft wall hanging from Sinclair's office, an ISN logo and a Babylon 4 panel. All of the items are interesting but I'm sorry to say that when something's reasonably priced, it seems more by accident than design. There are great memos from Crusade regarding worldbuilding and other production documents, too. Fun window shopping if nothing else.

I could have sold my VHSs instead of chucking them?? Oh well.

So how did y'all discover the show and when? I missed the pilot but was watching from the first episode after reading an interview with JMS in TV Guide where he mentioned the 'novel for television' idea.

Who's next? I'd be interested to see other stories!

I had friends who were into the show and I started hanging out with them around late S2-early S3 I think. They'd be watching and I'd be bored.

Then I saw a Shadow ship and went all, "Ooooh; what's that!?!?!!!", and that was my first mistake.

I had an Amiga computer, and in the times leading up to the premier, Amiga magazines would often publish images of this new cool upcoming show, with effects done on the Amiga computer and the Video Toaster accessory, and the new Lightwave software. So I was just chompin' at the bit waiting for the show to premiere.

My sister sent me the first four numbered Babylon 5 novels and "The A-to-Z Guide to Babylon 5" for my birthday to broaden my science fiction horizons. It was a while before I actually got a chance to watch the show (though, in retrospect, I probably could've; I assumed it was on cable-only by that point, but looking back, I don't think that was the case), and not until the DVDs came out that I actually saw the whole thing. Until them, I mostly picked up on what was going on through the books, the Lurker's Guide, and BBSes and fan-art.

The local video store had The Gathering, and it sounded interesting. I then eagerly awaited the series to start (on Channel 4)

I think it was 2002 when a coworker geek recommended the series to me. My first reaction was "isn't that the show with the bad CGI and guy with the peacock hair?" He said to just try it and brought in his season 1 DVD box set the next day. I was hooked about a week later.

I watched it on PTEN, in my area it was channel 26 Fresno Visalia. I moved to a different area of the county by January 1994 and watched the episodes for seasons 1-4 on the PTEN channel in Sacramento, which was channel 31. I purchased some of season 5 on Laser Disc in the late 1990's, but they stopped after producing 5 discs with two episodes on each disc. So the last episode I saw on LD was Phoenix Rising. I had to wait to watch the rest of season 5 and Crusade in 2001. That is when I put up a dish antenna (cable TV still isn't in available in my area).

I watched and videotaped The Gathering. I didn't like it that much at first and taped a few episodes of Deep Space 9 over it. I picked it back up near the beginning of the first season.

I started seeing references to it on nerd sites around the web and it sounded interesting, so I bought The Gathering on Itunes, at the time it was the only place I knew where I could this kind of stuff, and after I enjoyed it, I got the got the DVDs season by season and the movies.

I've introduced my partner to Babylon 5 since it was released on HBO Max. It's been great re-watching this show for the first time in twenty years. We've gotten through season one and we just finished "The Coming of Shadows."

I got a couple of EA badges from the Iacovelli collection last year. Not sure if they're screen used but certainly nice to have mementos from the show's production office.

Babylon 5 came out right as I was joining the Navy and ended before I got out. So, I never really had time for it when it was on and never thought much of it when it was over.

Finally, FINALLY just watched the first (pilot?) episode on HBO Max.

Wasn't bad! I might actually watch the whole series, if I have time.

If you can get through The Gathering and some of the first season episodes, you're likely to stick with B5 if you like SF. Signs and Portents got me hooked IIRC. Every one has a limit to what they can put up with though - I could never stand Andromeda because of Kevin Sorbo.

I TRIED to like Andromeda, and stuck with it through pretty much the whole first season and then...meh...

I made it further with Earth:Final Conflict but, even that lost me during the second season.
