Babylon 5

I was wondering how the first-timers took the undisguised dread all the hosts had talking about watching River of Souls before they went into Spoiler Space in the "Objects at Rest" episode.

I had seen River of Souls before, but it was long ago. I am curious what kind of review they are going to have for this movie. Honestly, I thought it was better than Thirdspace. It seems like the big reason people don't like RoS is because of Sheen. Yes, Sheen wasn't all that great in it, but there was more to this movie than him. In this age of strong woman in leadership roles, this movie made me love Lochley more, especially her smackdown of the lawyer.

Ok I have to ask because I didn't really understand your post from yesterday. What teddy?
Sheridan spaced a teddy bear at the end of one episode. The Bureaucrats wanted to open up a gift shop on B5 or something.

I know that, what does it have to do with Lochley.

Starting on season 5. We'll see if I manage to finish it this time, the show just loses so much direction when the main threads are all closed and the best characters are not a unified team.

Let's just home the space force doesn't have a planetary defense grid. Serious 'SCORCHED EARTH' potential.

A teddy is a sexy, skimpy lacy outfit...
And my mistake, it was a bustier not a teddy.
I hesitate to look up why the first outfit you describe is called a "teddy". Was there something about Theodore Roosevelt that I'd rather not know? I suspect I might end up with an image in my brain that I'd prefer wasn't there.

I guess you don't want to hear about the real San Juan Hill fiasco? There was a him, his Rough Riders, lot of rum and two dead sheep involved.

A quick Google seems to indicate that it got the nickname because since it was looser than regular underwear, so some marketer decided it made the woman look like a teddy bear, all fluffy and round.

"A View From The Gallery", I know this came out before the Buffy episode "Zeppo", but still makes it feel less original. And after "Lower Decks".

Not a bad ep but not as clever as writers seem to think it is. Ooh, show major confrontation from perspective of regular guys. Writing here is not original enough to get credit for being different.

Cowritten with JMS by Harlan Ellison I believe. Yeah, I'd give it a C-. It's not an episode I hanker to rewatch.

Oh, it was horrible. Not a bad idea, but holy crap, the two featured actors turned in painfully LOUSY performances. And it was supposed to be funny they didn't know what that tool was for? Oy.

That is the only episode in all five seasons that is actually just "filler" .
It can be cut and you wouldn't miss it.
My favorite part is the very end, everyone seems to be moving of to celebrate and Dr. Franklin is cataloging the dead. I always liked that actions have consequences in B5.

I'm not sure it's really the -only- episode that's entirely filler, but I'm admittedly having trouble immediately coming up with another one. There were certainly episodes (TKO) that had large portions with little relevance to the rest of the series though. And the Ivanova plot, while relevant to the events of the season, has little overall bearing on the series.

I didn't realize "View" was so loathed though. I've mostly thought of it as fairly harmless fluff.

Season 1 has lots of standalone, and early season 2. Most will get callbacks later on, but there’s episodes that mostly serve to establish culture of the station, like the labor disputes. Or silly sequences like the Drasi color wars.
