I had no idea this happened. I met this person at DragonCon, and was one of the most energetic and fun people I ever had the pleasure of meeting and talking to. Definitely one of my favorites of all the people I've met over the years.
Regarding Babylon 5, skip the first season.

If I hear another person talk about workers rights or unionization or whatever I'll scream.
It's pretty insufferable.

That's terrible advice and is akin to telling somebody to start a movie in the middle of its runtime.
in media res is not an infrequent occurrence in media, and can work quite well if properly executed.
I'm certainly not -advocating- for skipping S1, just saying it's not a make-or-break decision.
Knowing who Sinclair is is largely immaterial for a good chunk of S2 and S3, and I don't think you learn a lot about Bester in S1 that you can't figure out from his subsequent appearances.
I just feel that it's a valid option to start the series later and then go back and catch the bits you missed.
I don't even know what to say about this. How awful (to put it very mildly) for all concerned. Best wishes to the person and everyone around him.A personal article was recently put up about a member of the cast on Medium: “My Dad Starred in a Hit TV Show with a Severe Brain Injury”
Sorry to be coy about who it's referring to, but judging by the way it was written, the author apparently didn't want it to come up when you Google this actor's name, so I'm not going to mention it in the post with the actual link.
