The Legions of Fire novels give a decent look at Londo and Vir and are considered canon to the series by JMS, though Jan could give a better a word on their relative canonicity.
They generally are but, on Amazon at least, sellers do come up with good prices but they sell almost instantly. I got all mine under twenty dollars US but it was from daily checking and ordering one as soon as it popped up.It's really a shame that those books are ridiculous expensive

Yes, all three trilogies in particular are considered canon as they were based on outlines by JMS. Also, "The Shadow Within" and "To Dream in the City of Sorrows" are considered canon. The Legions of Fire novels give a decent look at Londo and Vir and are considered canon to the series by JMS, though Jan could give a better a word on their relative canonicity.
I just checked Amazon Marketplace and the lowest priced used copy of the first book for $6.12 and in good condition, but the cheapest new copy is (ouch) $84.28.It's really a shame that those books are ridiculous expensive
Splitting hairs (or prose!) I know, but from what I've been able to determine when it comes to "The Shadow Within", only the A-Plot with Anna is for sure considered 100% canon. The B-Plot stuff with Sheridan seems like a grey area. But then it's so inconsequential it probably doesn't matter either way.Yes, all three trilogies in particular are considered canon as they were based on outlines by JMS. I fell into a show hole and decided to give Babylon 5 a try. I know it was a popular show, but had never had a chance to see it. I bought season 1 and I've watched the pilot and first episode, and I gotta tell you, so far I'm not impressed. It seems kinda cheezy. Is it gonna get better? What season was the best?

Book 2's cheapest used copy is only $2.69 and in acceptable condition, with the cheapest new copy at $32.95.
Book 3's cheapest copy is $25.55 and in good condition, while it's cheapest used copy is $42.50.

Probably not a coincidence that my only real criticism of that book is that said B-Plot felt like filler (not a term I like to use lightly) and I really wish the whole book had just stuck with Anna and the Icarus crew, maybe fleshed out the other characters a little more.
Keep watching! Season 2 starts the ball going seasons 3 and 4 are exceptionally strong.
While later seasons do rely on season one events, the show DOES improve. You'll be hating why season 5 was axed and then renewed and why there's no closure to Bestor by the end. The Psi-Corps ruled. The Psi-Corps are like Section 31 except they got Chekov to play the lead guy and, wow, Walter Koenig is quite the scene-stealer.
At least from memory; I've not seen it in decades. But, yeah, copy or not, DS9 had a much more solid start and both took their own paths. Both are great.
There were several season 2 and 3 episodes that had "cracks" filled in in that Technomage trilogy, plus some of Crusade, too.

Not to snark or anything, but you just replied to a comment from 2015. I have a feeling they made up their mind one way or the other by now.![]()
Looking at Ebay, it seems sellers have caught on to that trick.Sometimes a good way to go is a hard cover omnibus edition. I got Legions of Fire for $25.00 in hard cover when the 3 seperate paperbacks would have cost me over $85, at the time. Very similar for the TechoMage trilogy, I got that had cover even cheaper, I think $20.
Thanks for the tip, there are a bunch of used "good" condition copies for $40-$50 on Amazon Maretplace.Sometimes a good way to go is a hard cover omnibus edition. So that's why the third books are always way more expensive than the first two.Jan explained to me that the publisher prints X amount of the first volume, then when the second comes out they only print as much as sold of the first so there's less and then the third they print only as much as the second sold so the third parts are more expensive because there isn't as many to sell.
Well, considering that "The Geometry of Shadows" is very early S2, I would argue that the Londo of that time frame was much worse a person than he would be even by the end of that season.
That said, even in the S2 finale he does some fairly despicable things.
